Do a lot of you guys still use portable GPS? It seems to me my phone and the Bluetooth or an actual factory navigation system are almost the norm these days..

I just use my phone since I don't have a gps. Unlimited data ftw. My massive Note 3 and a RAM xgrip mount works pretty awesome

I mounted my GPS on one of those A/c vent brackets to the right of the steering wheel. Picks up signal pretty good in that spot.
Ultra gauge is mounted on that left flat panel below the A/c duct.
Snuck the wire in behind the panel and used a rat tail file all the way on the bottom to sneak the wire back out.

I DO need to drop the ultraguage down a few more inches as I pick up it's reflection at night in the driver's side mirror.

You gonna black out the rest of the stuff?
I thought about it. All that black TT trim is nice but pricey!

My wife and I were in Worcester years ago and I was using a garmin something or other trying to find a burger joint... After winding up at the same light 3 times I chucked the gps out the window.... My wife was pissed..... True story...

    Thanks Billy

I don't know yet. Tons of FJ guys do that though, with no issue.

I'm blacking out the exterior. Inside will most likely just stay the same.

Who buys fancy TT trim?? Just use satin black paint or do what I'm doing and just bedline it.

    Haha good story

I tried to throw mine out and my wife lost her mind and said if I did we were turning around and going home... I contemplated still doing it. I hate those things. My phone seems to work so much better

Brand new Garmin with lifetime traffic and maps, with a screen that's I think 6" diagonally, is much better than my iPhone 5S

I just did the first oil change on the jeep. I used Mobil one with a new filter element. I also mounted some eye bolts and pulleys to remove the top once the weather turns.

I have a Garmin and a GPS in my head unit. I still use the Garmin though. I can program it while moving and my music and phone calls do not interrupt the GPS function.
