I would put the plug back in (to keep shavings out of the hole), get a very good drill bit, and start a small hole in the center of the sheared bolt. I'd then get an e-z out kit from harbor freight and slowly use that to back the screw out (remember to set the drill in reverse). some auto store may have one you can borrow for free.

just be glad it happened in the back and not the front driver's side...

yea i know im glad it was the one closest to the wall of the truck. the only thing is i cant get to it with a drill and im not sure what the hoses in the way are connected to. i think im just going to bring to a shop near by and let them do it. id rather not mess it up even more.

put the plug back in and it started fine so ill just take it slow to the shop

sucky thing is, is that it was the last step to finish all 6 plugs and i was done.

IIRC, they are 10mm. They get torqued to 7.5 ft.-lbs.

i knew the 10mm part i was just asking so i knew what length to get and the size of the threads but i found a great broken up diagram that listed it.

thanks for the replies and all the suggestions!

78K miles on the ODO, but due to the oversized tires probably closer to 85K road miles.
Planned for this Friday baby! First time doing plugs on any vehicle. Looking forward to it. Great writeup!

79,000 on the ODO, but due to oversized tires probably closer to 85K road miles. Long overdue, don't you think? :)

Btw, +1 for using black electrical tape to keep your socket extensions together! Just do it!

Did the plugs today on a '12 Prerunner V6. Not sure if they have ever been changed but it went pretty smooth and I didn't have to unbolt anything. I was able to maneuver the socket around things on the driver side, passenger side was easier. Took about an hour.

Just ordered a six pack of Denso's off Amaxon. Only $24, do they come pre-gapped?
