What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Not sure how that will fit on a 1st gen Tacoma.. care you enlighten us?

Hit up Tyler at Pelfrybilt, he makes a shit load of second gen armor.

 

Before you open the system, push the brake pedal down and get something to hold the pedal down. Shouldn't loose more than a few drops. It's like holding your finger over one end of a straw when it's full of liquid.

 

+1 a ton of the 2nd gen's I wheel with are rocking pelfrey

 

Are you sure about this? I would think this would be building pressure in the line, and when he opens the system a face full of brake fluid will be the reward.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're explaining.

 

I agree, that makes no sense. Water has something called 'water tension' that explains the straw analogy, oil does not.

I sometimes use gravity to self-bleed. Just leave the lid off the MC, and open the bleeder. It comes out slow, but steady.

 

I dont get it, is somebody trying to bleed brakes by themselves?

 

I think I'm going to attempt bleeding today. I might be getting help. Well see what happens.

 

Bleeding brakes alone is easy. Just stick an appropriate sized hose onto the fitting, stuff the other end into a bottle of brake fluid through the lid, and pump the pedal by hand. Make sure not to empty your mc. Thats how i did my flush after i installed my ss lines. Took all of maybe twenty minutes. Easy peasy. Enough time to smoke a, i mean drink an adult beverage.

 

Welp firestone called and they adjusted it some and swapped the tires but they cant do any more with out aftermarket UCA's.

 

Gave Ol' Red a long overdue bath. Still need to give him his spring waxin'

That's what I was thinking... I bet I could get basically the same heat exchanger and mixing valve at my plumbing supply house too. I wonder how much I could piece one of these kits together for..

 

Well I hooked up the hoses the way I thought it should be done. So that is a success.

However I no longer have a heater, and the heat exchanger loop is not warm at all. Damnit.

I think this cable area that opens the valve (I assume) might be my problem... Anyone able to check if there's looks like that? Much appreciated if you can... I kind of manhandled that piece a few times by mistake.
