This thread is hilarious. In my town the Toyota dealer orders like 80% or better (my own visual estimate) of their Tacomas in the DCSB-OR configuration.

I chose a DCLB specifically. Why? Because I don't plan to rock crawl. I'd rather have a truck with a real 6 foot bed to haul crap around than the tiny bed on the DCSB. I can upgrade suspension and still use my 4x4 on camping/hunting trips if need be. But I don't plan to hit the dunes or anything like that.

Since I have a Long Bed but don't have a skewp does that make me half ghey?

That took short boxes right off my list. I've never been in a spot where I thought a SB would of been better offroad. Then again I don't rock crawl, I just enjoy exploring.

I'm okay with my fully ghey truck. I pull out loaded up str8 trucks all the time. SB's with lockers must like playing in the butt mud too much .

My guess is that most LB owners really need a truck that can carry stuff and the SB guys are just getting a truck for the cool factor so yah that's kinda Ghey.

A better option for the SB "guys" may be a Jeep. Pretty good OR and none of that silly bed stuff.

 

I actually prefer the automatic. But that's because my Taco is my daily driver. If I was buying a truck specifically for off-road use or rock climbing I could see exactly why someone would prefer the manual and a locker.

For me 4x4 is all about winter weather and trails. Not "off-roading". So even the longer wheel base on my DCLB compared to the DCSB doesn't really bug me.

Only thing about my truck I'm unhappy with? The money I need to spend to get all the upgrades still on my wish list! lol

If they offered the DCSB in automatic or even just the TRD OR package then I think you'd see better sales. I wonder why they refuse to offer the most popular configuration in the states up here...

 

All of North America ends up with DCLB being the most popular? Seems doubtful. If every Canadian that bought a Tacoma bought a DCLB that'd be like 12 trucks. There aren't many of you up there.

(The facts are that Canada sales numbers are about 1/15th that of the USA. So Canadians don't impact North American sales numbers in any significant way.)

But interesting the DCLB is more popular up there. Makes sense though, everything is all squished up there what with the longitudes being closer right? So a DCLB up there is only as long as a DCSB down here?

Canada has 1/10th the population of the USA roughly. However, there is still plenty of room for profit by selling vehicles in Canada. I know 10% difference can make a difference in my bottom line. I'd assume it's the same story for Toyota, GM, Ford, etc too.

Again, the DCLB is only popular in Canada because Toyota does not sell many options when it comes to the DCSB.
