Hey now lets give OP a little break from being berated here... he recognizes the problem and is looking for solutions.

Unfortunately an alcohol interlock isnt the solution, he can just get someone else to blow into the thing. He also could figure out how to take it off... god knows thats what me and my friends would have done.. just so we could say we did it.

Best thing i think would be to not let him drive your whip anymore, and tell him to get his own car. if you cant stop him, at least make it difficult....

If you caught him drunk after driving home, just take away the car. He needs to learn responsibility first.

If you are just worried he MIGHT...getting an interlock is pretty overbearing and shows a complete lack of trust in him. You should trust you raised him right, to install an interlock without him doing something to deserve it will be a blow to any bond you guys have. Just my .02, granted I don't know all the circumstances.

I've heard you can program the ECU to recognize when the driver is drunk. It still allows you to drive. It just silently judges you.

True, did't necessarily mean "let nature take its course". Just that some are slower on the uptake...

ok, after thinking about it a bit more I think the OP has the right intent in mind however he fails to understand the seriousness of his sons actions.

Whether or not he is drinking and driving, the assumption is he's a young man therefore one can only assume he likes to partake in both. At the same time.

might I recommend speaking to the boy and explaining over your dead body will he ever drive your truck, or any vehicle for that matter, after he has been drinking.

rather than adjust your ride for your son, adjust your son for the ride.

I seriously doubt that there is one person on here, if they are being honest with themselves, that hasn't, at least once, driven when they were over the limit. It's not a matter of trust.
The point is to get him thinking about driving after drinking. Kids especially, feel invincible and have serious loss of judgement after a few drinks.
