The crock pot is arguably the most under-rated piece of kit in the american kitchen. If I moved into a new house with nothing but appliances, it would be one of my first-weekend purchases.

First things I bought with the house was a Foreman and a Crock pot. Haven't used either. :anonymous:

I've never owned or used a foreman. But a crock pot and a grill for me :) Use the shit out of both.

The other thing is proper All-Clad cookware, but DAMN the shit is expensive. Thankfully, cast iron is still cheap and easy to scrounge up!

still looks pretty damn good for not having any time! i wish i was more motivated to throw things in the crock before work. just can't bring myself to spend much time in the kitchen in the morning....its just get up, get showered, get dressed, grab a yogurt and run out hte door for me.

    I did cheat a little.

For instance, I had the pork in the freezer. I transferred it to the fridge Friday...I knew I would cook it this weekend, I just didn't know when.

Saturday I made pan-seared & smothered baked porkchops (the ones I've shown here) so I had a sweet onion already diced and half-leftover, so less to chop.

I started working the weekend Saturday after lunch. So, I had an idea I wouldn't have much time.

Sunday morning was about 20 minutes of prep: Washing and slicing celery and peeling/slicing the carrots. Everything else was on-hand already.

And, yes, I keep those $1.29 gravy packets handy. No, I wouldn't serve them to someone that knows how to cook with a good quality meal, just like I still eat Jack's frozen shitty pizzas and Mac n' Cheese from a box...just not when other people are around.

Pick your battles to fight. Let the others go.

We ended up staying at a fund raiser WAYYYYY later on Saturday than I planned so we ended up not making them on Sunday. I am going to shoot for this weekend.

We bought a set of stainless Calphalon cookware that was $799 and only marginally cheaper than All Clad for the same amount of pieces. If you notice my food in progress pics are generally in my $20 Lodge cast iron.

Back about 8 years ago, we camped the williams-sonoma in west palm for months getting to know the shipping schedule. The way it used to work (not sure if it still does) is that unsold merch gets counted as a go-back, and held against the store's next month's order total.

Managers HATEHATEHATE gobacks. So, we timed it and got to the store a couple of hours before close for the month. We got a 10 piece all-clad classic set for cost....349.99ish. That set new is 700-900. She'd rather not make profit on the item but not have a 'red flag' on her store for a big goback.

This summer after I get tires on Audra I'm gonna try to do the same thing again here, if they still work that way internally.

Cast > SS for almost all the cooking I like to do. I do have a larger SS pot/pan collection that mostly takes up cabinet space.
