Meh, Bob is entitled to his own unique opinion and view of the facts. He's just misguided.

    Pster,
What I'm saying is that we're pretty much a country of immigrants. If you look at any period in US history, there has always been periods of violence or anger against recent immigrants one way or another. Look at NYC in the 1800's. It was against the Irish. That's just who we are. I don't see this more recent anger over illegal immigrants being all that different. But don't misunderstand what I'm saying here. I am not supporting illegals from coming here illegally. It is killing the financial system of the state I live in. It costs the taxpayers millions of dollars. It strains the infrastructure. It causes us to lose tax revenue. Yes-its a big problem.

Murder rates don't go up because the police are busy with another job. Murder rates rise and fall with little actual input from police directly to stopping murders. They deal with other crimes that "clean up" an area.

There is NOTHING that a cop can do to stop a murder unless he knows it is going to happen- a la the movie Minority Report- which doesn't happen or he just happens to be in the right place at the right time with the presence of mind to react.

What can they do something about?? Illegal folks walking around all over the place. It's easy to say "Let me see you drivers license- Oh don't have on- Let me see any form of ID- Of don't have any-You are coming with me until I know who you are" and then if something else happens- Respond like police should.

Police are nothing but armed historians in the end. Protect yourself and let the cops sort out why you shot the intruder/robber/douchbag.

And Bob- I have a job with the military that an illegal couldn't have and even when the economy was great or now- I will still mention illegals absorbing jobs and other social services that they do not deserve in the least.

Classic. Since 100% of what I'm mentioning doesn't happen to jive with what you think then its intolerable to you. I have my opinions and you have yours. I don't have to tolerate what you say either. But I'm not going to huff and puff about it and say that you're "spewing garbage". That's why these are forums.

WTF dude, like what was I supposed to do? I had no fucking idea that the bike was actually stolen until the guy came out of the store and said his bike was stolen, looked up, and saw the guy on his bike about 3 blocks away, at which point we called the police. What should we have done? Run after the guy?

So what. Then fight illegals Bob. You are supporting both sides of the issue, you cannot do that. Only our President can do that.

Chris, i see where you are coming from and i'm sure illegals have influence here but not THE reason. I've gone to American Eagle, burger joints and retail stores where you would usually see lots of teens working. I've seen 50+ year olds working at American Eagle greeting people, 50+ YEAR olds!! And it's a trend i've been noticing more and more. Your friend's son can't get a job for the same reason that 1 in 10 people can't. It's the Economy.

I might be wrong but i started noticing the downfall in the economy when people started loosing jobs (At least here in San Diego). Many of the big companies that were laying off hundreds of people were like you say, hiring foreigners. But wait, not here in the Great US of A. The greedy SOB's moved their warehouses, plants, and other establishments to foreign countries so they could profit more money off of the cheap labor. Like China, India, Mexico and others. They didn't care enough about their employees. That's not the only reason for the economy being the way it is, and everybody will have different reasons for it. But that's what i noticed.

Like I said. We called the police.Neither of us had cars. Had I known the person was stealing someone else's bike I would've yelled at him or something which I'm sure would've caused him to drop the bike.

If all the illegals left, the vacant jobs in landscaping, cooking, etc. would in fact be filled by Legal Americans......they would just pay much higher rates and salaries.

Nailed it. That's what pisses me off more than anything. People always talk about how that we in America can't compete with cheap labor in making things like cars, TV sets and PCs. Bullshit. Germany is the 3rd biggest economy in the world and they have a huge manufacturing industry with high wages and great benefits. yet we in the US can't compete? hmmmm...

switzerland. they are the most conservative country in the world with more guns per capita than America. plus all the chicks are hot. i already looked into it :)

yes, we are a country of immigrants, but we also pay tax's and live her legally. personally i'd be cool if the US started a program where illegals could be come citizens if they served in the military for 4 years. teach them english and a trade and pay them for their service. then when they are done they are citizens. hell, if you fight for a country you deserve to be a citizen of it.

Ok bob, i'm not attacking you, but i'm a little confused. what exactly is your stance? you seem to be against policies that go after illegals, but you admit that they are a problem and need to be dealt with in some manner. i'm not trying to give you a hard time, i'm just looking for some clarity on what you are saying.

for the record, minority report would have worked if tom cruise hadn't gone and fucked everything up. i say we deport his scientology loving ass to mexico

HBMurphy, You're assuming that I'm a liberal because I am disagreeing with some of your statements. If you want to know the truth I think both Conservatives and Liberals are full of shit because they act about the same, are too easily influenced by the sheep-media, and waste lots of time bickering instead of improving the country. A disagreement is not necessarily an indication political preference. Its healthy to discuss different ideas. I do not put myself into a box and never will.

I didn't say anything about Liberal or Conservative. But wow! I don't think you are a liberal. I think you are mis-guided and lack experience. That's all. :)
