Where is Connors State? I haven't heard of it. That is what I was gonna do with UCO. Is just get my basics then go to OU or something. But then I got scholarships from OC that made it cheaper than UCO cause they didn't offer me anything.

It's a college in Warner. It's where a lot of ag kids go to get their basics

What do you guys plan on studying? That was the hardest part for me. Chemistry, architecture, a semester of undecided, and then ended up in Recreation Management. I know UCO, SWOSU, and OSU offer it and it's a great degree if you're interested in working in state or national parks. Take a few extra science courses and work for the Corp of Engineers.

There's something to be said for studying something you love and having a job you love. That being said, i'm working on my masters degree now in Entrepreneurship with aspirations of starting my own company within the recreation field. Just wanted some formal business education.

A lot of people come to Stillwater and take classes at NOC for OSU credit...cheaper and easier. Worth considering if you're thinking about transferring here eventually.

I'm leaning towards mechanical engineering with a side major in financing

I also plan on majoring in mechanical engineering. Great field with great pay. Math isn't my favorite but I'm good at it.

What type of recreation? I always thought about doing entrepreneurship but I wasn't sure what is do exactly and since 95% of people who graduate with an engineering degree are hired right out of college, it just sounded best for me.

If any of you guys are considering going to OU, let me know. I'm junior petroleum engineering major and would be happy to answer any questions.

It's definitely a good field to go into. Oil prices are low right now, but that's one interesting thing about the industry: it's boom or bust. It's a really difficult major, but if you want to do engineering and dont want to be stuck in an office all day, it's a very good field to go into.

Tuition assistance has been great for me. took me 10 years of active duty and will have my bachelor's finished next year.

It's definitely not easy. My class started with about 400 people freshman year and now we're down to about 100.

It's definitely a good major to go into. It's just a really big time commitment, that's for sure. I love the oil industry though.

I went to BYU- Idaho (like BYU in Utah, but in eastern Idaho, and yes, I'm Mormon) and degree is Mechanical Engineering, but I'm a Controls Engineer which deals with plant and process automation. I didn't even know this existed until I did an internship and now I love it. Good blend of being out in the field and the office.

This question is for any engineers. Would you say that this job is constantly changing? Not doing the same task every day?
Also, do you wish that you would've went into mechanical engineering technology instead?
And lastly. Are there plenty of places to get employed around oklahoma doing this job?
