say what you want my jeep has been more places the most tacos will ever go, I taught everyone wheeling a stock rig of any kind that even on the easiest of trails skids are necessary, the fact is you have to pay to play

I chose to take a 60k out the door jeep on the trail is my decision, Toyota STILL to this day doesnt offer what I want in a vehicle in North America without spending 100k+. I did not want to delay my trip any further than I did getting to Colorado, prior to that trip it went through morrison under its own power, it did elephant hill under its own power, it also tower arch trail all with out skids, is it the perfect wheeler nope! is it a good overlanding rig hell yah it is. Not to mention this towed my fat rexus from Edmonton, Alberta to Moab and back with out a hiccup

The fact is yes this is a toyota forum, but this is an offroad community that a few too many "young" individuals need to learn to diversify into other groups "COUGH MARK COUGH"

plus how many guys do you know could come up with a back up plan home to leave his vehicle in another country for three weeks and than fly back to pick it up! I am a toyota wheeler at heart but I dont think my Rexus will ever be as comfortable nor dual purpose as my jeep! Aint no way in hell rexus is going to tow my jeep on a trailer for 2500 miles ;)

hahaha you can see the poor decision there..... the nice thing is, I have a pre runner bar to fit in that lower valence portion soon! as well as a plan to fit 34.5's ! and an extra inch of lift

the jeep isnt going anywhere muhahahaha it just kind of donated itself to overlanding :p but dont worry rexus is staying in the familia

but more on that another day, more moab please :p

Sure the Rexus would tow the jeep 2500 miles. Question is if you are driving the Rexus why the hell are you bringing the jeep? You just need to have a 4BT swapped into Rexus and get some real link suspension under the front of that thing and all will be good. It really isn't anything against the jeep I mean I own a vehicle made by the same company. Though I didn't buy it for comfort . I bought it for it's bruit strength.

Oh joe you so serious. You know I love you.
This "young" individual wheels with mostly jeeps and generally everything but toyotas. I have the upmost respect for rigs that are built well and can handle terrain. Some people bad their criteria off dual purpose, but I am not haha.

That trip was fucking amazing and I wish you would have been able to stay for the whole thing.

Email your Congress member(s). They allegedly talk to each other so send an email to everyone in UT-District 3 & surrounding districts in adjoining states. A directory of Congressional members can be found here. Personally, I emailed every member of Congress from UT & CO.

Here are instructions & a canned message suggested by sharetrails.org that I used as a basis for my email:

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO EMAIL YOUR COMMENTS: NOTE: Please be civil and, if possible, make your comments as personal as you can. If you can add any personal testimony about your experiences enjoying this spectacular area, please take a minute to add that to your email.

STEP 1: Please send comments - Preferably by email: council@grandcountyutah.net
Or if using express service, mail to - Grand County, Attention: Public Lands, 125 E. Center St.,
Moab, UT 84532 - For questions, call 435-259-1342

STEP 2: Contact Representative Rob Bishop's office using the contact info below:
    Washington office: 202-225-0453
Ogden office (main Utah office): 801-625-0107
    john.newhall@mail.house.gov

STEP 3: Contact your Congressional Representative - Find their contact info Click Here:
Craft your own comments or use the comment suggestions below when communicating with Grand County Council, Rep. Bishop and your representative. Don't forget to be polite and keep it civil.

    SPECIFIC COMMENT SUGGESTIONS:

I oppose Grand County's proposal to close roads and trails. There seems to be consensus among many local stakeholders that BLM's new recreational travel plan is, with a few exceptions, acceptable. Legislation, even a designation such as an NCA, can and should "codify" the current management as a baseline. Additional uses could be authorized via planning and NEPA.

I support the idea of "no net loss" for recreational travel routes. I do not wish to preclude federal land managers from temporarily closing or restricting public access to a designated route for purposes of resource protection or public safety. Provided, however, that if the closure becomes permanent, or the length of the temporary closure impairs established access and use normally provided by the designated route, the land managing agency shall establish alternate access, equivalent to that provided by the designated route.

Grand County's "management objectives" are vague and use undefined terminology. The proposal needs to specifically outline what type of management the County desires. The establishment of the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) directs the Secretary of the Interior to manage lands in a manner that protects the values for which the components of the system were designated. This requires that special attention be given to the specific management intent. Specifically: recreational uses, including OHV recreation, must be protected and existing roads and trails preserved.
