Oh my haha. At least it is a Lexus. I went from a 97 Acura CL to this Toyota. Although I never had any major problems with all the electronics, I know it is a small fortune to repair them.

Plus, I've noticed all the bells and whistles don't add much for resale value.

They really don't... But 1999 was truly the last year that Toyota/Lexus offered a platform with out the VSC and didn't start offering the ATrac till 02(i think).

With you on the "KISS" but calling keyless entry, power windows , power door locks and cruise control complicated is a loco. Sh*t has been around for decades.

I know but I've had a few cars where the window motor died or the key fob stopped working and they were hundreds of dollars to replace. I don't know what it is with me and window motors but I've had three cars with a block of wood holding the window closed because I was too cheap to replace the window motor...

I think they're lying to you about the SR / convenience package part. Unless they changed that for 2015 models, which wouldn't make much sense.

I have an SR package 4x4 with the sliding rear window, leather steering wheel, cruise control, keyless entry, came with entune, etc... I agree, the SR package looks way better than the SR5. Looks just like a sport on the outside, minus the hood.

I'd tell them to take that truck they got you and shove it hard up their ass and find another dealer. 1/2 of the dealers that I talked to when shopping for my 2014 didn't even know that the SR package existed. A few of them even insisted that it did not, and that I couldn't get the options I wanted without buying a TRD sport / off road. Low and behold, I found the exact truck I wanted at a dealership about 50 miles away from me. Went and bought it that day.

"Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2015 Toyota Tacoma is a midsize pickup truck offered in two cab configurations: Access Cab (an extended cab with small rear-hinged doors) and Double Cab (crew cab). Access Cabs feature a standard 6-foot, 1-inch bed, while Double Cab models offer either a 5-foot short bed or the standard 6-foot1-inch bed.

Standard features on the rear-drive (two-wheel-drive) Tacoma Access Cab include 15-inch steel wheels, a limited-slip rear differential, power locks and windows, air-conditioning, a composite bedliner, a bed utility rail system, cloth upholstery, fold-up rear seats with underseat storage, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a 6.1-inch Entune touchscreen display and an audio system with a CD player, iPod/USB connectivity and an auxiliary audio jack. A sliding rear window is optional.

The 2WD Double Cab adds black fenders, power mirrors, adjustable driver lumbar, a 60/40-split rear bench seat with adjustable headrests and rear bulkhead storage.

Specifying four-wheel drive on any base Tacoma brings an increased ride height, 16-inch steel wheels, black fenders (already standard on Double Cab), an engine skid plate and front mud guards. The PreRunner, offered in both Access and Double Cab configurations, is a rear-wheel-drive Tacoma that otherwise shares the standard features found on the 4WD Tacoma.

The Access Cab is eligible for the Convenience package (called the Convenience Extra Value package on the Double Cab), which adds keyless entry, power mirrors (Access Cab only), cruise control, a tinted sliding rear window and steering-wheel audio controls. The SR5 package includes those items plus chrome grille and rear bumper trim, color-keyed front bumper and fenders, foglights (V6 only), adjustable driver lumbar support (already standard on Double Cab), unique seat fabric, variable intermittent wipers, metallic-look instrument panel trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and (automatic-only) shift knob, dual sun visors with mirrors and extenders and a rearview camera.

Separately available, the SR package (available only with the PreRunner package or 4WD Tacomas) adds extended color-keyed exterior trim, exclusive black 16-inch alloy wheels, mirror-mounted turn signals, smoked headlights and (on V6 models) foglights.

V6-powered PreRunners and 4WD Tacomas are additionally eligible for the TRD Off-Road package, which includes the SR5 package plus a heavy-duty suspension with Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, Hill-Start Assist and Downhill Assist (4WD automatic models only), 16-inch alloy wheels, TRD graphics, a 115-volt power point in the bed and sport seats. Alternatively, the TRD Sport package features a sport-tuned suspension (also with Bilsteins), 17-inch alloy wheels, a hood scoop, extended color-keyed exterior trim, the bed-mounted power outlet and essentially the same interior features as the TRD Off-Road package.

The TRD Pro offers the same off-road flair as the TRD Off-Road package, with much of the same equipment, plus a more aggressive look, unique paint, cat-back exhaust, an increased front ride height and side graphics.

Finally, the Limited package (V6 Double Cabs only) includes the SR5 package's items plus 18-inch chrome wheels, extended chrome exterior trim, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with an outside temperature gauge and Home Link, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a seven-speaker JBL audio system and a higher-resolution touchscreen with HD radio, satellite radio, a navigation system and the Entune mobile-app suite.

Tacoma V6 Double Cabs can also be equipped with the JBL audio system as a stand-alone option, while the upgraded touchscreen is available separately on both Access and Double Cabs, with or without navigation and Entune mobile apps."

Hi, sorry to here of your problems.
Here is what I would do. You like the truck? Buy it, but ate a VERY reduced price? Be militant about the fact that they screwed up and you are ready to go some place else. The price must be low enough to cover the cost to get what you want installed. The rear window should be easy. The cruise control and keyless entry should be possible but I'm not sure because I'm new to the Tacoma and Toyota.

Salesman continues to blame me, and said there's no way that they can get that other truck that I found (which was what I was under the impression they were ordering), as it's too much $$$. Waiting on the manager to call me now. Was told that the manager will call in five minutes, and I followed up with a text to the salesman asking when he would call. I was then told within the hour. That was two hours ago.

They're up to offering me that truck, with an aftermarket remote start installed (which they say takes care of the keyless entry problem) and the rear window changed out. I'm tempted, but I really don't like the idea of aftermarket keyless. I can live with that though. Still doesn't resolve the issue of cruise control (which I don't *really* care that much about) or the issue of the wrong steering wheel (which I do care about).

I just can't deal with that fucking salesman anymore, so I'm impatiently waiting for the manager to call me back.

If you have an SR package truck now thats a v6 and a 6 speed manual, just keep it. Thats a rare truck. The sliding back window, keyless entry, and cruise control can be added easily

Time to walk...or at least make them thing that's what you're doing. My guess is that they will call you back within a day and try to make it right.

If that doesn't work, start talking to another dealer. Explain how the current one is treating you. That could make the new dealer more eager to earn your business.

Don't settle for less than what you want.

Get/keep the stick shift one... just get the TRD quick shifter, you're, in my honest opinion are missing out on a rare vehicle if you go for the automatic one. Again.. just my .02 , and the stuff you are missing on the other truck can be added out of pocket for not too much extra....

OP keep us posted on what you decide. I agree that they should have been able to order what you wanted. I added cruise to my 2015 base - it was prewired and took no more than 15 minutes.

Get what you want, it's your $$$$.

My point exactly, and you're gonna save a little bit of cash on the backend anyway because since those extras you want aren't already on the truck, you quite obviously won't be paying for those in the actual final cost of the truck, generally all you'll be paying for is the labor if you aren't installing everything yourself.

I'm waiting to hear about the steering wheel. That's the last thing. If they can put that steering wheel in, I'm good.

The issue is, I HATE the base steering wheel. If I had ordered it knowing that that is what the steering wheel would look like, that's one thing. But I specifically asked the salesman multiple times which steering wheel was going to be in the vehicle, and we even went out to look at the other trucks. He said "this one", which was the one in the convenience package. That is what I was told I'm ordering. If they can put that in as well, they have a deal and they resolved the issue. They also get an ok review by me.

ALL toyotas with fly-by-wire throttle already have cruise control. All you need is the control on the steering wheel. Already got a vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer, already got the cruise control servo in the form of the throttle control motor. Already got the emergency cutoff in the form of the brake switch that the ECU is already using. There really is nothing to add but the switch itself, as all the other stuff is already there and in use. If the "cruise control" fails, you ain't going anywhere anyway on these vehicles because that uses the same critical components as the basic throttle, etc.

That ought to be a 10 minute job once they have one in hand. I don't think that will be a deal-killer for them. They are not gold plated. :)

I'd be weary of the aftermarket alarm/keyless entry. I've had numerous ones and unless they've gotten 100x better, they will fail. They'll fail way before the truck ever fails you.

With that said...I've experienced (or known anyone who experienced) a factory keyless entry system fail. Beyond the key fob needing a new battery, of course.

The aftermarket ones are cool and feature packed, but if you just want to reliably lock/unlock with a button, I'd push for factory.
