the front shocks are what are now being called Bilstein 6112's

In all honestly do yourself a favor and do it proper... true coil overs from icon/fox/swayaway.

    1. Just drove a 2015 Sport last weekend....not much difference in ride between it and my Pro. Have driven a 14 Baja and it seemed stiffer, so I would say the front suspension rides a bit better on the street...haven't taken the Pro to the Desert yet so not sure on that. I'm happy with how my Pro rides.

    3. No, not a waste of time. Rear is the same as a stock TRD OR so you can simply change the rear shocks and gain added travel. The $1500 for the kit seems high as all you would be getting is front struts and rear shocks. If I was building up an OR I think I would look at the big players, Icon, King, Fox etc and use their front struts if they are priced anywhere close to stock Toyota. I've also seen a couple of folks that were selling Baja factory stuff for a decent price if you want stock Toyota.

    Some stuff...
I'd agree. My setup (ICON Stage 4) was about $3,200 plus another $2K for wheels and rubber. Throw in my 1/4" ATO IFS skidplate @ $200'ish and you have a build worthy of the TRD Pro IMO, at about the same price. TRD OR was $32,000 + $5,400 in above stated upgrades = $37,400.00'ish

After installing that specific toytec spacer for our front coilovers.....did you get the upper control arms swapped out as well? Also, did you add an add a leaf to the rear???
Forgot to add....did you install a diff drop and a carrier bearing drop?
    Thanks, Juan

Hey Jim, quick question for ya.

I'm planning on adding the same icon progressive AAL to my baja. I have the same spring set up as you. 3-1. I see you had to cut the spring clamp off the springs for the install. How come ? I've never installed an AAL. I can see it is a straight forward process however, I've just never done it myself.
Also, did you use any shims?

    Thanks, Juan

Mike, did you swap your ucas when you went up to 3 inches? Did you add a diff drop to the front?, carrier bearing drop? Also, did you add shims to the back with your progressive aal??

    Thanks Juan

    Juan,

    No shims.

I had to cut the stock clamp because it gets in the way of the AAL. You'll see when you get under there to mount it up. Without cutting the clamp and removing the rivet it gets in the way, preventing the longest AAL in the pack from mounting flush against the stock leaf.

Also, using the center hole on the AAL as a reference point, the longer side of the leaf goes towards the rear of the vehicle.

    ;)

Did you end up getting a dbl cab inferno 6speed? If so you are extremely lucky!! Corporate didn't lie to you, the Trd pros with a 6sp is rare. I was trying to buy what I was told is the only inferno dbl cab 6speed toyota had built so far. This was a couple months ago. It was from a dealer in st. Joseph Missouri. The salesman told me toyota built it specially for special customer. He was out of the country and was kinda dragging his feet on going to pick it up. I almost had them convinced to sell it to me but the guy finally went to get it.
I was able to locate a black trd pro 6speed in Washington, a white one in Colorado...both dbl cabs. Also, a white extend cab 6spd in New Jersey.......no other inferno dbl cabs with a 6speed anywhere. So I don't think the salesman was pulling my leg. I was even able to get in contact with a toyota division mgr and he told me the same. In addition that toyota did not plan to build very many inferno pros in a manual. If you go to toyota.com, it won't let you build one and add the manual as an option. Your a lucky man if you got it!!!

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you replace the clamps? And just to clarify, you only removed the overload and replaced it with the progressive AAL?

    No prob,

I did not replace the clamps I removed (one clamp per side).

Yes, I removed the factory overload, and replaced it with the progressive AAL.

Here are some pictures of how it looks now with the tires and all black stock trd beadlock wheels. Also added pictures of where the rear tire rub, only offroad. The Front don't rub.

I've got a favor to ask you TRD Pro tacoma guys....

I am thinking of doing a Tacoma TRD Pro grille retrofit on my 04' Tundra. However before I spend the chedder on a Tacoma grille, I need to make sure that the Tacoma grille center section is large enough, in height AND width for me to fit it into the Tundra opening.

Could one of you please measure the height and width dimensions of the center section of the grille?

    DSC01815_7aa619fd4aa546fd35c96538b6f34f920b75730f.jpg
EDIT: From the photo above (not mine), I need the dimensions of the matte black portion of the grille. Don't care about the dimensions of the orange painted portion. Thanks!!!

Love the TRD Pro's especially the orange ones! Awesome trucks guys.

Gimme a bit and I can get that done for ya.....look on eBay for the grill. I just got mine from a Toyota dealer from Miami for less than what they are everywhere else.

Juan- which dealer? I have to order some TX parts and I saw in one of the threads that a dealer in Miami didn't require the VIN and had decent prices. Thanks in advance.
