I am in the process of building my truck, next thing on my list is some good skid plates. there seems to be tons of options for the 2nd gen trucks but very few for the 1st gen trucks. I would like to see what you guys prefer and are running. please post picks of what your running, what brand & how you like them. TIA

I'm running skidrow t-case and IFS skids currently. Came powdercoated and got them at a decent price through http://www.quadratec.com/.

Just call and give them the skid row part numbers.

I will likely make a connecting skid to cover the transmission.

He stopped but is considering another batch, check out the end of the thread I linked, shoot him a pm.. Light a fire, lots of people want him to start up again so maybe that will give him incentive.

    There is also Budbuilt

I just picked up some Skid Row Skids. Seem to be a lot more thought into the design than the Budbuilt.

At first the price scared me away but I found out I could get them through 4Wheel Parts. They were already cheaper through them than online, plus I got military discount, and free shipping (not to mention they come powdercoated already). Saved a bunch of money and ended up being cheaper than the Budbuilt.

I know you asked Lauren but I have some shots of mine so I figure I'll share them too.

    IFS skid:

Def want to re-enforce the t case skid a bit more at some point.

^^looks good! I didn't get the transfer case skid, just the front and transmission one.

Will do! Should hopefully have it on within the next day or so. Changed my oil while everything was out of the way today lol

I jumped on it as soon as I saw they were cheaper than the Bud Built. I don't know about other brands but the differences on the Skid Row vs the Bud's I noticed are: countersunk holes, come powdercoated, holes for changing oil, and extra bracing on the back part of the front skid.

Cynicalrider, do you have a diff drop at all?

We made some progress with mine today:

The diff drop does make it a little bit more of a PITA to install. Kind of didn't cross our minds that if you add spacers to the middle area of the front skid, you have to space out the front as well because it throws off the angles. Also, the carriage bolts they provide for the transmission skid interfere on the passenger side with the catalytic converter. So I need to get one a little bit shorter or just cut it.

As you can see it's still a WIP, got some bolts in, but only one holding up the front currently  We got tired of making so many trips to ACE Hardware today through our trial and errors...and also one case of grabbing standard bolts that somebody put into the metric area -sigh-

That sucks! Hope you can get it sorted soon.

No diff drop here because I am still wheeling on stock ride height.

I don't plan on putting a diff drop though when I do lift.

Like I said it's not too bad. It's just finding the right combination of bolts and washers lol
