Thread is a little old but I got to vent my frustrations with this rasp. lol Just installed my DTLT's and I never really understood what was ment by rasp untill I drove with mine. Sounds like a damn vibration/rattle when I step on the gas. Annoying as s**t! Not to mention the engine tick echos through the headers now. Must fix these sounds pronto! Sounds like the resonators help. Maybe I'll do that. Oh yeah, and if anyone with DTLT's happens to read this. Have any problem with the Thorleys getting near by wires too hot. I was thinking I should probably heat shield near by wires n such. probably a good idea but I've also never seen this issue.

Aloha Braddah, I had the same issues when I first got mine, sounded crappy as hell....now I have the dtlh-stock y pipe-vibrant resonator- gibson catback.........sounds perfect for me. No rasp at all rpms. If you have the dt y pipe too, that is whats causing it, no cat. converters. It is hit or miss with this v6, it all depends on the exhaust note you want and maxing the hp of the headers. Good luck:)

Yeah, mine really sounds crappy as hell because I just blew the exhaust manifold gasket. I knew there was a lsmall leak there and was going to fix it this weekend. I was just driving and wanted to hear when the rasp kicked in. I stepped on the gas a little and next thing... pffff.... gas pedal had a flutter too it, check engine light came on, and truck was shaking. SWEET!!! I havn't heard of the stock gaskets being a problem with the Thorleys but havie heard 50/50 responses as to re-use the manifold gaskets again. Looks like I'll be replacing mine lol I'll probably just have a shop do it along with the resonator.

My advice is to forget the OEM gasket. Replace with a FelPro type gasket. Mines had no prob for past 8mos. Plus it's cheaper.:D

Really? I just started a thread to see what others used. Cool! If yours works then that's all the proof I need. I'll do this. Thanks

I think that is my answer as well.
I added the URD pipe bomb and it is just a bit too loud with the TRD catback.
I am kind of getting to like it but on a long trip I think it may become too much.

The question is which resonator reduces the rasp but doesnt rob performance levels

i know this thread is old. but i installed a set this past weekend, and the rasp is getting to me. Sounds like a damn honda inside the truck. I have a flowmast 40 series, stock piping, that is dumped under the cab. Any help with getting rid of the stupid rasp?

The only time I heard rasp, was when running no Cats at all. I'm not a fan of FM, I'd recomend an Aero Turbine 2525xl, or the Dynomax superturbo muffler. Better quality, and performance then what you are running. Let them Headers breath.

Yeah, I got the same set-up broski ( DTLT's w FM 40 and the stock pipe) I just cut mine at the end so the exhaust isn't visible. The rasp only happens at specific rpm's ( mostly if I hammer down ). I was just noticing today that it sounds like a rattle can. I dont want to get a resonator that robes even a little performance so I never did. roxspin72 makes a good point though. Maybe it's the muffler that makes a difference... ?
