Seems this needs a fresh re-posting in this thread:

A suspension lift (coilover, lift springs, spacer, etc.) only changes where the tire is at ride height, it does not change the overall range of travel of the tire.

    There are three scenarios:
    1. Stock height - this potentially requires some or all of the following; trimming, proper alignment adjustment, cab mount chop, and proper backspacing to prevent rubbing when street driving and at full lock.

    2. Lifted, street only - if lifted you can run this size with minimal adjustments if you never leave pavement.

    3. Lifted, off road - see #1 to eliminate rubbing through full tire travel

I'm gonna keep repeating this information until I'm blue in the face because it's probably one of the most misunderstood facts about tires and lifting. Unless you have a drop bracket or SAS for a lift you are not changing the range of motion of the tire.

Yes, keep repeating this. I don't understand what is confusing about this.

With most suspension lifts, all we are doing is pushing the tires down in their stock travel. This means less droop and more compression. You will still rub the same amount, it just depends on where your tire is at the time.

no worries. i just had to trim a bit and im at close to 3 inchs. so im assuming you just have to trim alot with that on stock suspension. idk? idc actually glad mine looks good and rides nice.

To those that have used the Sr5 steelie, any rub on a stock UCA? I see most reports of trd off road rims clearing and steelies clear on the pavement but steelies/stock uca stuffed? Any contact other than plastic?

Sweet, any reason u ditched OR rims for the spares? Just that those are quit a few pounds more than the alloys.

I always liked the spare rim look. Before you decide to switch back to the alloys, weigh them. I thought they were near the same weight as the steel ones.

Those are both 255's?! Incredible difference in size mounted and worn if so...

yup, the new wasn't mounted so actual height is wrong, but the wear difference is huge.

Wow what a size difference! How much mileage you get on that first set? I am thinking of getting Toyo MTs, you must really like em to be on your second set. I have the M55s and love them. I am in need of extra set of some mud tires for an upcoming backcountry adventure and am leaning towards the Toyos over BFG KM2 for the tougher sidewalls.

I'm mostly around the 16.5mpg range with all the armor/stuff with stock gearing, I've noticed that my ultra-gauge is now showing a higher avg mpg on the highway with the new tires...maybe the old ones being as bald as they were started to impact rolling resistance.

I've always been interested in the M55, but haven't really found any place local that carries them.

I actually wanted to get some ko2's in the 34x10.5 which comes out to about the same overall size as the Toyo's...but I'd have to get a set of 17" rims and where I live makes it a pain in the ass to just up and change tire sizes. (google Recon in Hawaii)

while the process isn't difficult, I just don't have the time to do it.

maybe next year i'll get a second set of AT's for regular commuting and save my MT's for camping in the mountain.

Does anyone know if the km2's have enough rubber on them to regroove? I have 8 255/85's and wouldn't mind grooving the set not on the truck
