OK... so two days ago I received an email from Facebook confirming my password change. About 30 seconds later (before I'd even had the chance to visit FB) I received another confirming the addition of a new email address. My real email is ---- at gmail.com. The fake one was the same beginning (which is my whole name), but was at operamail.com.

I denied both changes, and quickly went to FB to re-set my password. I thought this solved all of my problems. My page worked just fine (and looked/acted completely normal) for the next few days.

Today I get the email below, from abuse+neqqxjr at facebook.com:
I thought it looked suspicious for two reasons. First, the address from which it cames just looks goofy. Second, it's asking for security information to be sent via email rather than entered into a FB page. Both of those were red flags to me.

So I go back to FB and try to sign in w/ my new password (from a few days ago). I'm unable to sign-in, so I try to "reset my password," which is when I get the message that my account has been disabled.

I've had a few friends here at work sign in to FB and look for me. There's NO trace of my existence on FB anymore. My wife's page says she's married, but no longer has a link to my page. You can't find me by searching, and I'm not in my friends' friends lists.

I've sent an email to FB explaining that I didn't do whatever they banned me for. Who knows if they'll reinstate my account, and in the end, who cares, really? If I never get my FB page back, I'll be OK w/ it. I just wanted to vent a little about the ass-hat hackers that like to mess with people.

Did you use the link to deny the changes? I never use the e-mail links whenever I get e-mails sent to me. I go directly to the source. 10 of 10X it's a hoax. I just recieved an e-mail yesterday from Cox to change passwords and requesting info. I called Cox and they sent no such e-mail. You gotta be very careful with e-mail info now-a-days.

Well just be glad it didn't happen here! ;) Well now that you have 2 more hours to each day, what are you going to do to your truck? :)

I actually don't remember if I used the link or not. I usually don't, but it's entirely possible that I did. Once I received the second email I thought, "damn, somebody's taking over" and I might have quickly reacted and clicked the "deny change" link in the email.

Fortunately, I don't spend NEARLY as much time on FB as I do on TW... Losing my FB page won't clear up 2 hours of my life every day. Maybe a combined 2 hours every couple of weeks. I still might use it to play with the truck, though. :D
