The good thing about the deck plate mod, that if it isn't going to work with the S/C all you have to do is screw the deck plate back in and nothing lost except a few dollars in parts and your time.

I will have to keep searching for that thread where I saw it.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll let you know when I get them in. Now all I have to do is hurry up and wait for the filter to get here.:D

RacerP, let me know if you find that thread. Worst case senario, I'll just screw the lid back in the deckplate like you said, no harm done. Anyways, let me know if you find that thread at all, I couldn't find it when I searched for it, but I would definitely like to know if it exists.

Can't wait to hear it and see what difference it makes with the engine!!
I'll let you all know the results!!
    Thanks guys!

Well I kept searching here and over on CustomTacos.com and couldn't find anything but, I did come across a thread where a guy did some extensive work with a S/C on his 4runner. Here is his website:

    http://www.speedysgarage.net/sportrunner/index.htm

So, anyhow he hasn't posted in a while over on CustomTacos, so I emailed him instead:

I came across your post on CustomTacos and read thru your website about your S/C work on your 4runner, but, noticed you hadn't posted on the CT website in over a year.

Question, I recall reading on one of the threads that you should NOT be using the deck plate mod on a S/C motor, but, can't find the thread anywhere. Am I remembering this correctly? Any opinions?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Here is his response:

With proper upgrades for fuel and timing there's no reason not to use the deck plate mod. I've got it on mine and have had it since doing the SC two years ago. My tune is really good though.

    -Speedy

I hope this answer helps, I guess you just try it and tweek as necessary, but, no harm done in adding the deck plate.

RacerP!! You da man!! Thanks for finding that! That's awesome! I guess I can try it and if it doesn't work then no harm done, if it's not working, just plug it back up.
    Thanks again, that really helps.

One word of caution: this mod is not recommended for supercharged Tacomas unless you have performed some serious fuel system upgrades. The engine breathes quite well with the stock intake system and opening the airbox contributes to "pinging" with the supercharger.

I knew I read something along these lines somewhere.

I was going thru gadgets upgrades for the S/C from his URDUSA.com website. Seems like there is about $1000 worth of upgrades to get the most out of your S/C. New fuel pump, larger capacity injectors along with the adaptors for the plugs, and maybe some modifications to your current 7th injector if you have one.

After that you will have all his software available to tune everything. Seems after you have done all these you can use the deckplate mod.

i've heard of the oil getting on the MAF sensor. i guess from over oiling the filter? not sure if it can be cleaned or if it has to be replaced?
