Don't fuck them up! Just saying, BFG doesn't make that size of tire anymore...

As for whether you can, I'm sure you and groove them some, but I don't know how much. I should give it a try on my front tires. haha If I kill them I'm not out much.

Yeah, but who knows how long that will be... They estimated this summer-fall, but sounded kinda flakey about that estimate in the article I read on it though. But several websites (to include BFG itself) have completely yanked the 255/85 KM2.

The low price of them is very tempting for when I need a new set. I would get this size and do lots of trimming. ~2" lift is what I have

Heading to this size when my rugged fails wear out. Anyone have any feedback on the Cooper ST Maxx?

I've been reading some threads about the 6 speed and that 6th gear is too tall so on the highway it runs at too high rpm and sucks a lot of fuel. Would anyone know if the 255/85/16 tire make the rpms drop some on the highway?

Here is the chart you need to see your ratios as you increase tire diameter.

Did anyone consider spacers to get the 285/75's to fit? If so, what was the main reason you steered away from the spacers?

Well this is the 255/85 thread but to answer your question most people try to get the correct wheel spacing on their rims when purchasing. Generally spacers are just another failure point, but if you get proper rims with spacing it makes for less fail spots.

However, to fit 285's with stock rims you will need spacers to not rub on the UCA (IIRC), and spacers are a hella of a lot cheaper than new rims.

I went with 255's and can keep stock rims, its a true 33' but skinnier. Worked for me.

Got it, the entire reason I found this thread is because of the 285's / UCA issue. I guess I'm assuming others who chose 255's have also thought about 285's at some point.

Cant speak for everyone, but for myself that was one of the reasons. I didn't have to run spacers, and I didn't have to spend a fortune on new rims. Also this size does tuck up into the fender very nicely, where the width of a 285 does cause issues. Less work to fit a physically taller tire works for me.
