I just went to maaco for an estimate for my hood. They said $350 just for that. I know they do great work if you are willing to shell some money!

those are surface scratches, once you start sanding they will basically disappear.

Again make sure the surrounding areas are as flat when you prep and it will look fine when painted over.

damn 5 cans just for the hood?! that definitely seems a little excessive. maybe one can primer, 1-2 cans paint, 1-2 cans varnish..

i don't really know either but 4 gallons just seems like a lot of paint lol.

thats good to know, didn't realize plasti dip stained..

thanks for the advice, yep prep is like 85% of the work. might even take more than a full day to prep, i have a bit of bondo work to do for my bed bob.

Im going to put string in all of the weather stripping that i can't remove (windshield and rear window) and take off as much trim as i can (mirrors, maybe door handles, weather stripping, small windows, door panels, side lights etc). Also am going to remove the hood and hang it vertically to paint it as I've heard it is very hard to get an even coat on it when it is on the truck.

gravity fights you on the hood, plus its hard at the angle it is.

I know thats what I said. I think I am just gonna spend $30 on ebay and get some matte black vinyl and just wrap it. Seems to be the cheapest/cleanest/fastest way to do it (for my situation at least)

I asked in the OME thread but figured I would ask here.
Would I be better off with 882's or 883's for my DC V6 4x4?
I might be getting a relentless plate bumper (No winch for now, would like one in the future) and want 2-2.5'' of lift.

Yeah my factory roof had the white paint showing from the primer underneath from years of windshield wiper fluid run off.

the hood was just pock marked like a 16 year old that loves pizza bagels...

Haha I can only imagine. Damn, I should probably check my roof out... that runoff is ridiculous. I can see it run down my back window after I use it.

Not so worried about the scratches but if you look closely everywhere it looks like its wet or has a texture to it.

    typical.

Its just the clear coat that was never properly treated.

You can buff a lot of that out but it takes a professional with certain tools typically. very easy to burn the paint.
