You will not have any probs like they did Jon, they pre loaded the Shite out of a coil that was too long to make it fit on the CO. Your springs are the correct length so that will not be an issue amigo. I had no idea anyone was preloading a spring 2" just to get it on the CO !? ...pretty much defeats the purpose of getting rid of the shorter pre loaded springs huh...?

I would absolutely love a 3" truck to follow me down to a couple of my fav spots in Baja ...I could make a fortune charging you to pull your tail off the beach with my winch when your tires are spinning helplessly in the sand while you are beached like a whale on your frame. Then...After I winch you out of that one you will high side and teeter totter like a baby turtle trying to get over the ridge back to the road because your crown clearance is too low..and I can charge you again for a rescue winch and charge you again to borrow my sawzall to cut away your exhaust and driveshaft that you just ripped apart and is now dragging the earth unceremoniously... and now that your driveshaft is gone I could charge you even more to tow you 4 hrs back to anything resembling civilization...and then drive away back to Murica' while you are stranded in a small foreign village waitng for fedex parts for a week...

 

Yeah, I had no idea what I was getting into..First time really messing with coilovers. Didnt realize that 16" spring gives you just enough play with the spring completely backed off to disassemble the lower perch/mount (whatever is called). Live and learn But, I am much happier with the turn out.

 

That wasn't a jab BTW... I should have caught it when you guys were discussing it because the custom CO's I have are basically a couple inches taller than yours and if 18's fit mine properly... I should have realized they would not for yours and warned ya'

I remember my 16's were cranked over 2" so I went for 18's and it does ride better. Is that because I increased the spring rate?

Technically speaking an equal rate spring IE: 600 lb spring pre loaded 2" regardless of length should feel the same. So if you had to squish that 18" spring 2" to get it on...same difference should feel the same. Now, there are a lot of people that will say Eibachs cost more because they do ride better so maybe that is what you are feeling ? It would be expensive as fook but I would love to see what a Ti coil spring would feel like because I use them on my mountain bikes and they feel sooo much better than steel springs...but then you would have an awesome feeling front end and shitty leaf springs in the back.

 

What springs/spring rate do you have now? Any time spent on #700 coils?

 

I am running 700lb 18" springs right now and they are pretty stiff ( I do have a bumper and winch ). I have a pair of 650 lb Eibachs in my garage to swap out and test but I am also working on trying to fine tune my leafs in the rear at the same time as they feel too stiff. I have an idea to rework my leaf pack a bit which will lower the truck about an inch but correct my shackle angle that is increasing my spring rate in the rear. So basically shorten leaf pack to lower and correct shackle angle which will soften the ride. Then if the rear is lowered an inch I can use the 650's without having to pre load them and the truck will sit level... In theory

 

I got some armor for my front end coming in the mail in the next couple of weeks, seems pretty heavy due to the fact its steel, will i have to adjust the coils at all??

 

It's all about how much weight you add amigo, DSM told me the rule of thumb is something like step up 50 lbs of spring rate for every 150-170 lbs you add. Having the correct spring rate provides a far better ride vs pre loading a softer spring to achieve ride height.

Looks clean man! 6" is the way to go! although I'm sure a select few of the guys on this thread would like to disagree haha its all preference, but as a daily driver and the occasional off roader 6" is perfect for me.

Sliders added this past weekend. I had Chad (BashFab) add 2.5" of extra width to all the tubing. Makes the slider more accessible for my kids to step on.

hey the guy that rebuilt my shocks said there was a spacer.

 

That is REALLY good news for you and not so much for me.

How do they feel now? Did you mess with the valving or pressure?

 

They feel good i think i need to crank it up preload little. He said they were really easy to rebuild.
