    Did this project today. I used to do automotive upholstery so this was easy and only took a few hours.
    Just some plywood, nylon carpet, 1/2" carpet foam padding, screws, hinges, and staples! I also did the backside and underside of the cushion and backrest.
    I'll be adding more trim to it for a "factory look" and dog needed accessories as time goes. I was even maybe thinking of putting this into production for those who don't have the time nor resources...

    This setup would be perfect for you! The carpet is mainly Nylon, and I just simply take this out, lay it on the ground, vacuum over it and put it back in! If I need to people people in the back then I just simply fold them up and place them in the bed and fold the seats back. Thinking about maybe modifying is so that I can put them in the little area behind the seats when up.
    I can relate to your hairy problem. My Dal sheds from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

    I added a little cabinet lid support I modified to attach on the one side. Only problem is that it won't close flat now, but it does stay open without any problems.
    Going to have to cut the corners a little bit for a better fit.
    Thanks for the idea! It was a great project.

    Finally got around to completing this project. I should have done it sooner as it took less than on hour to complete. Much better than the dogs destroying my interior! Thanks OP

    Hey guys I'm still waiting for my Tacoma to be delivered to the dealership and this is one of the first things I'm going to making for it. For those of you that have already made it for the 3rd gen Tacoma, does it allow for the rear seat to be folded up in the normal ride position for when the dogs are not in the truck, or does the "dog mat" have to be removed first?

    It's a pretty straight forward setup- Things you could do would be make it in 2 pieces so you can use one seat vs the other. But it's more stuff to handle taking in and out.

    Hank likes to try and get up in the front seat so I got this off groupon for $5
