Will 285's be ok with stock gearing on my 05 Reg Cab Prerunner? I live in LA and don't encounter manly hills except going up and over the grapevine home to Bakersfield everyonce in a while.

I know I know, the search button is my friend and I've lost a girlfriend and get yeld at on set at work all the time for using it to much :) I've researched and researched finding what I want to hear and also what I didn't want to hear. I want to hear that I'll be fine as long as your ok with X X..... They just look so much better than 265's in my opinion. However, 265's on stock suspension and 5100's look good as well, just not as mean :)

I just want to hear my true cons.... Probably the only Pro is looks

Lay it on me. Thanks for for my TW World addiction

I ran 285s @ one point stock. It was fine, but you'll need take front mud flaps off & some trimming is required.

Just do it and get it over with.

Lose the mud flaps and you will have to trim some plastic when wheel is at full lock. I have 285s and I am lifted 3" and I had to trim a tiny bit. I made the mistake when I lifted my truck and bought another set of 265s and I sold those a month later for 285s. It didn't look right..

Coolio...... However I'm not really worried about the rubbing part, more of the stock gears.

You can put the tires on and try it - then regear later if you want more power back.

Since you're a pre-runner, it's not horrifically expensive to regear.

True..... I definitely would regear to 4.56's at one point but not immediately. I read the reg cab prerunnes come with 4.11's so I feel like it wouldn't be to crazy but I'm not sure and reason why im asking.

Can anybody chime in the currently has or have ran 285's on a stock geared 2.7.....

    Thanks guys
    Ronnie
