Nice truck but I want the rifle!

 

Hello all, was wanting to see your all's input on my upcoming lift choice…

I have a 2014 reg cab, manual. I have Procomp 7069's in 16's and 265 treadwright guard dog tires to be installed. I have an all pro bedrock for the bed once it gets welded/painted, and plan to ad a CVT RTT next month during the group buy.

Now, I'm a little unsure of what to do about the lift. Mainly, I want to level it out, and keep it level with the RTT and bed rack. I'd also like to add a bit of height, but, I don't want to run into too many vibe problems, or start stripping out the truck too much at this point, as it's still basically new. I don't do any real offroading. I'm a climber and backpacker, and weekend camp guy, so light trails and off road use only, and no need for anything too serious.

So… just do 5100's and an AAL in the back? Add Eibachs? Spacer needed on drivers side? %100's front and back, or just front? Anything else I'm missing?

Any help would be great, and thanks ahead of time. I've learned a lot from this thread. And this is my fourth tacoma… love these trucks. First one I'm doing anything to though, and looking forward to it.

70 or 75 series tires?

 

The bed rack and rtt will likely add a decent amount of weight. You will probably want an aftermarket leaf pack for that.

Damn, I was afraid of that. I know the tent is roughly 125-35, and the bedrack will sit at 85lbs, according to All Pro. Any suggestions on the route I should go?

Well. I was gonna buy it today but found out today at work that we might get laid off next week.

 

So, say the wheelers 8 leaf rear spring set, coupled with 5100's all around? Do I need the spacer for the drivers side lean? That do it you think? Or am I going to really want to get the eibach coils in there too? Any coin I can save would be great… this build has instantly more than tripled in price lol. But I love it, and I'll be living in it all summer while climbing.

If youre gonna stick with 265s, a great lift would be 5100s + the 1.6 inch eibachs and then a 1.5inch aal or even a 1 inch block in the back. If i had 265's I'd probably just set front 5100s to .85 and call it a day. This pic is an example .. That way you'd have a little lift in the front but your tires wouldn't look too small.. Plus if you had weight in the back it wouldn't sag into bro lean

Would it be smarter to wait until the bed rack and RTT is installed and see what you'll actually require for the leveled look you want?

 

Thanks for the response. I may do that and just put on the 5100's and set them to .85 and then just see how it goes. I guess I can alway's add from there if need be, but at the least I'd have those on. Then once I get everything on and it settles I can see about what I want/need to do from there, which may be nothing. Looks like .85 would at least even it out somewhat, which I what I'd really like… though it would be nice to add a little height too.

 

Yeah probably what I'll do. I'll throw the 5100's on there as I want those regardless, and just set them at .85 like was mentioned and see how it sits with everything and just kind of go from there. At least I'll have the 5100's out of the way should I decide to go further and add more lift.

I agree with taking things in steps. I wasn't suggesting you needed a new leaf pack but it might be wise to look at it. Depening on what you pack for camping you can load the bed down quite a bit. Then you load people into the rtt for sleeping.

 

I'm thinking I may just do 5100's all around, and just replace the leaf pack from the get go, and then go from there. Eventually, regardless of what I do, under the weight of the RTT and the Bed Rack the stock leaf pack is going to flatten out and shit the bed anyhow, so I might as well just build a good foundation now. I think in the long run it'll save me money anyhow.

At some point I said modding a truck was pointless for me. 32's and a suspension was more than enough to get me to the fishing hole. Well, 32's are enough but it's a bug and some how I get satisfaction from the build . Just get ready to spend some more money.

What seat covers did you get, I've been looking for something, $150 sounds pretty good!
