Unfortunately I've got too much going on to make it a camping weekend. But I'll be bringing along a passenger this time. My wife's befriended one of my kids classmates Moms. Turns out her husband & I have a lot in common so I invited him to join me for the day.
He's a Marine & was in Iraq so riding shotgun in my truck is not going to be a really big deal.
Be good to get out on the trails for a day though.

I can't imagine. I know when we pull out of Rausch I am usually ready for a nap from all the concentrating.

Sorry to hear this. I am looking forward to some pork roll. You may be surprised about your passenger. Not that it's on the same line, but I brought my father last time. He just retired from being a long distance trucker of 52 years. I thought after all of those mid west runs, chaining up and going on Donner Pass that he would find this like a Sunday drive. He told me after that he was quite nervous on some of those hills (and as you know, i only run green and some blues). I either case, looking forward to meeting him and thanking him for his service.


So what's the plan, where's everyone staying?


On my side, I am getting things ready. Put my newest stickers on the truck and finally peeled the "c" from my TacomaWorld.com sticker off the bumper and put it back where it belongs. Still have no idea how it got on the bumper.

Also working on a sleeping platform for the truck. Have sketches on paper and have been stocking up on 4x4's and plywood from our elevator crates at the office. Planning on putting it together next weekend. Can't wait to test it out.

 

How stock-friendly is Rausch Creek? I'd love to join but I don't want to be that guy

 

They do have some easy trails, first time I went I only had upgraded my tires. I think you will be fine

I'm gonna call the county office tomoro or Tuesday and get the scoop on the burn ban. That will be the deciding factor. Camping without a fire is uncalled for

/\ hahaha. There is no way I can make this now. I may have been able to swing it but it would've made for a real tight budget till then. But now my driver side cv boot is tore. And I popped the hood the other day to check my power steering because it was starting to get sticky steering. And the resivior was low and there was ps fluid everywhere. So I soaked everything in engine degreaser and sprayed all the shit off filled it up with ps fluid and have been driving for a few days now and it the level hasn't changed. Wtf! But my steering is still "sticky". O well. You have to pay to play right?

You'll do just fine. We all started that way.

 

We also won't let you go down something your truck can't handle either.

 

For someone's 1st time at RC, I think a good trail leader is very important... I was lucky to have a very good one on my 1st visit...
