Poison Ivy!!!!

Okay the other day i took my motorcycle to the trails in Brown Mtn. NC and did a little riding. Well i noticed i had Poison ivy on my leg, im very prone to this crap....i get it just by looking at the mess....Ive had it a bunch before, got the shots for it and all...but i know theres some home remedys and crap just wondering what yall do to get rid of it.

 

Baking soda powder & water--mix it into a paste then apply.

Scratch the hell out of it, then douse it with rubbing alcohol. It'll take your mind off the itchyness.

But really, I'm ultra alergic to poison ivy, so I feel your pain, and I've never found anything that even resembled a miracle cure. Tough it out.

yea rubbing alchochal it makes you all "airy" feeeling and it dries the rash to get rid of it more, cold showers are the way to go to

 

x2 and get some plain oatmeal and paste that on there as well...it draws out the itch I know cause I had gotten into not Poison Ivy but Poison Oak!!!....That shit is no joke, I thought I might die lol

 

I have heard that vodka works but it might be for right when you make contact. and it sounds like the irritation has alread appeard. Sorry to hear I'm just getting over a bad case. Be sure to take care of it my dad has scars from the stuff he gt from Hurricane Ike.

 

scratch it a bit then naptha... burns a little bit but dries it out pretty well then put a poultice of baking soda and water on overnight. That will take care of most of the itch.

 

My gf is pretty allergic to it. She uses this stuff called tecnu

Me I just scratch the hell out of it.

 

i get poison ivy pretty bad too, i think the best remedy seems to be salt water. tried an oatmeal bath once when i was legitly covered, but didnt work to great. i know i guy who swears that gasoline will clear it faster but i'm not willing to try it..

 

Oh ya I forgot swimming really helps the chlorine works wonders on it.

 

Yep, I actually have done it for poison oak. Don't know exactly what differences there are with poison ivy. The idea with the baking soda or oatmeal) is to draw out the oil I believe.

i know bleach works great, but it dries your skin out pretty bad

I thought dryign out your skin was the point. But bleach might go a little far, but I bet it would work.

 

Here in ct we have a wild weed that grows in wet areas its called jewel weed rub the stalk juice on affected areas + dries up the poison ivy also try preperation h that is used in tennesee

 

i know this is a really old thread but its the only one about poison ivy/oak. and right now i have blisters on my neck from poison oak. its all over my chest, down both sides of my chest as well, and the worst is on my neck. ITS HORRIBLE!!! i cant move my neck with out it hurting so if i have to turn, i turn my shoulders as well. What should i do? i have to wear a shirt at school so what type should i wear? Im calling my doctor right now to see what the nurses suggest. WHat are you suggestions to getting rid of it when its this bad? Or do i just suffer

 

Fuk...I has a minor case of this shit! Itches like a mug! Google says a goat is a good way to rid me of this cause their not allergic.....I went and got one but hes not doing anything

 

Fuck all that home remedy shit, I go straight to the doctor and get the shot and pills. Tried all that mysto cure stuff and nothing actually worked for me other than the shot and pills.
