    Hi there,
    sad post...
Friend was doing donuts on ice and apparently over revved the engine. Had a deep knock, prognosis was a bent rod :(

I'm looking for the best motor replacement source, anyone done this before?
I'm doing the taking out and putting in, I was going to get it rebuilt locally (Fairbanks AK, rebuild is beyond my skill) but the shops here don't offer nationally recognized warranties, and I'm leaving in a couple months.

2012 v6 4.0L TRD, 60000 miles. I want something with less than 75K, and comes with some sort of warranty, if thats possible.
    Thoughts?

I asked three mechanics and they all said the same thing.

I loaned a buddy my car way back in HS to go to lunch. Came out to go home and he had thrown a rod. Not happy, aaannnndd said it didn't sound that way when he brought it back. Remained friends but I knew, and I learned a valuable lesson.

Even with a fuel shut off it is possible to over rev the engine a bit. You floor it on a ice and it spools up pretty fast and overshoots the limit. Also there's the old mechanical over rev when you down shift at too high a speed for that gear, and the engine winds out as you let the clutch out too fast. BOOM.

    Sorry man.

I would check with the mechanics and get quotes for tearing into the engine and seeing what needs to be replaced. Sometimes a new bearing set and a polished or new crankshaft will fix the issue, and cost a LOT less that replacing the entire engine.

    Peanut oil. ?

I am with Bamatoy. Check first whats wrong before dropping all the money on new engine.
Those engines are not easy to kill unless you help them a bit.
