My new truck has 3000 miles on it and when I am warming it up it sounds like a lifter is stuck? After 3-4 min. noise goes away and truck runs fine.
Anyone with a NEW truck heard of this? Toyota said it's normal?
I will put up video when I figure out how!

    Thanks

My 09 sounds a jet engine at start. After a few minutes it's normal.

First there are no " Lifters ". It uses solid buckets and spacers for adjustments.

A sound clip would be nice... Mine is noisy right after start up due to the fan clutch.

Doesn't start on the first key turn much of the time...whether cold and warm, noisy startup, noisy shut down.
Welcome to the 2015 model. The list has just begun.

The radiator fan runs at full speed until the engine has warmed up. I guess to keep the bearing lubrication distributed and as a self test.

No. It engages and disengages as it is thermally controlled with silicone oil.

^This, and a clutch. It's engaged at cold start, until the silicone warms up.

No. This is incorrect. The silicone settles after sitting so the fan is engaged upon cold start.

OP. Tick noise upon cold start could be piston slap. Take it to the dealer for diagnosis.

That's what the instructor taught me. Perhaps he was mistaken.

It is normal for Toyota, it is not normal in the realm of normal sounding automotive engines.
It will never be properly addressed by Toyota due to reasons that no one will die or be hurt from the noise. Now, if there were to be an accident and the threat of a lawsuit, then we may see some action.

Minus the sarcasm, I honestly think if Toyota was jockeying for position on the leaderboard there may be more issues/updates as well as a consumer voice that Toyota pays close attention to. But with startup noise like we have...how the hell can they hear us?

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Not all of them, but newer trucks for some reason do.
I was picking it up some oil filters and parked next to 2015 that was picked up by new owner, with both trucks running you could not hear mine.
Not sure if its oil or something but 2015 does sound way louder than older trucks.
In my truck when its running all you can hear is injectors and maybe slight Taco tic, otherwise engine is almost silent.
I would say try different oil see if it helps.
