Five grand on upgrades, five grand on hookers, booze, and blow. Ten grand would make me very happy :D

High end lift like Icon, and a bumper.

Personally I'd go with lockers, gears, 37's and RTT. Then I'd try to come up with another 10k to keep going. Canada is expensive.

Great to know... I don't necessarily want more lift. Right now I have about 3" which I'm happy with. I still have a ton to learn about suspension, etc.

Wow, considering this is a forum full of threads about mods, upgrades, etc. I sure am feeling a lot of hate about updating my truck. What up with that????

If I had to spend it and not do something like invest it, I would buy:

Aluminum armor front and rear H/C (I really like the CBI Dakar)
    Sliders
    Skids
    Wheels and tires (5)
    Regear
    ARB Locker front and rear
    RTT

Then use the remaining 1000 or so to cover the cost of the trips to use the mods :D

Most LT kits get you about 3" of lift I believe, so you'd be about the same. But you'd be wider, look cooler, and run over things better

I'm not sure what's going on around here lately, there seems to be a lot of extra hate for people dropping money on mods in the recent months. I'm guessing a lot of people are in oil&gas, don't have the flow to drop on mods right now, and are a little jealous

I'm way over the $10k mark, I'm closer or over the $20k mark and not even done... I should of bought a house instead though but stupid happens when you're fresh out of college.
Camburg 4x4 front long travel, DMZ spring under axle, Swayaway 3.0 3-tube bypasses & hydro bumps, tube bumpers front & rear, Glassworks fenders all around with hood, Baja Designs LEDs, TRD supercharger, KMC beadlocks, and misc. upgrades such as intake, pulley, exhaust, etc.

Good for you, I hope you enjoy those years where you have tons of money and your body is too broken to enjoy it. You won't be wheeling or jet setting the same way at even 55 as you would be at 25.

I'll take my moderate amount of debt and very enjoyable lifestyle thank you very much. I invest/save over 8% of my income which is enough to retire on by 60 if things trend the way they have. Then I'll enjoy golfing ;).

While I certainly agree that you should only spend what you can AFFORD there is nothing wrong with dropping $10k on a car to set it up the way you want it. Some people blow 50-100k on awful stock BMWs and Mercedes, which to me is a complete waste of $. I literally can not understand why someone would pay $45k for a 328 x-drive.

I paid 18K for my '08 Tacoma 4x4 AC V6 with AT and 60k miles on her, got 7k in trade for my cosmetically challenged '05 Tacoma 4x2 4cyl. MT with over 140k miles so I financed 11k and my payment is only $220/mo. so I was fine with spending another $7k on mods to get it set up the way I want it. All-in after the trade-in I'm only out of pocket $18k (25k if you don't count the trade-in value) and I have a way better truck than anyone could buy new from a dealer, IMO.

Convert my prerunner to 4wd and also put a solid front axle under it during the process.....and hopefully have some left for gears, lockers and body protection

    After reading that... mod away.

What makes you think that a person who saves their money like myself doesn't have an enjoyable lifestyle? I hunt and fish, mostly hunt, and I spend more than my fair share on gear for it. But with that said, both my wife and I put 15% of our salaries away (pre-tax) into our 401K's so we will hopefully be more than comfortable once we retire. Do whatever you like...
