Can you do that? I have it connected to the power inverter with 110v but need to turn on the switch every time I go in the truck. What it to be 12v so it can turn on with everything else.

So what would I need other than this to us this as my radio. I basically want this to do everything my current radio can do now: bluetooth connect for phone calls and music, use as a normal radio, be able to adjust bass treble etc... I have a totally stock system now but I would like to upgrade to a little better speakers and a possibly a JL audio 10" sub stealth box. I have never done speaker work before and know little about what type of an amp I would need or anything else for that matter. any help would be great.

I didn't read through all of the pages on this form yet because I don't have time at the moment but I will soon. So if any of my questions were already answered, a point in the right direction would be awesome!

    Hey Griffin,

The most effective and common set up for using the iPad mini as your A/V system is to use it in combination with a Sony head unit which sits behind the iPad mini. This allows you to retain AUX / USB sources other than the iPad, keep a separate bluetooth connection for audio streaming and phone calls from your cell phone, retain AM/FM/SAT radio capabilities, and play CD's when desired, all while providing the necessary means to integrate with factory / aftermarket stereo setups and steering wheel controls. The Sony head units that I recommend also make use of Sony AppRemote which allows you to control the radio directly through the iPad.

I sell these radios with pre-harnessed setups made to be plug and play for our trucks. Perfect for people who have little experience with stereo work. All connections on the harness are soldered and all components necessary are included. Feel free to email me for more information and pricing on the radio / wiring end of a set up like this.

    IT'S GROUP BUY TIME!!

As the current kits in production are wrapping up, it's time to start driving sales for the next batch. I'd really like to do a full batch of 10 kits, and I'm looking to promote these as much as possible, so I'm running another group buy for iPad kits. The group buy applies to standard mount and front loading iPad kits and does not apply to radio / wiring setups for the kits. To help drive sales, I'm offering two incentives for people to jump on this group buy. If I can get 10 people committed to this group buy, there will be a 10% discount on the kits. I will also randomly select two participants in the group buy to receive $50 iTunes gift cards to compliment the new addition to their vehicle.

    Let's start the list!

Sorry if you already answered this, but is it possible to get one for an iPad Air 2?

Unfortunately, there is just not enough room in the dash to make a drop in kit like this. I can do a custom one-off for an iPad Air, but it would be quite expensive, since I'd need to modify the piece surrounding the radio trim.

    Awe that is disappointing =/
We are given ipads for digital books instead of paper books at school, so I have it with me all the time! Dang it!
    That sucks!
When you say expensive, how much are you talking?

It depends on whether or not you want to ship me your dash peice and have be build on that one, or start with a brand new one from Toyota. Either way, it's hard to say how much would be fair to charge, since I haven't fully explored the application and how I would do it. A good ballpark estimate would put the price around $600.

looking forward to seeing shane next week to get the updated version for my truck. His original design is still fantastic and I love having my ipad in my truck.

His customer service is top notch also. Anything that has popped up he has taken care of even when the issue had to due with the radio and not his kit.

Hey, i'm very interested in this kit, but I'd like a bit more info on the wiring end of the install. Is it just plug and play for an unmodified 2014 taco? I also have steering wheel controls and bluetooth phone connectivity that I'd like to retain. How does all the necessary wiring affect the price of the trim kit?

Thanks OP, you have made a product in your garage that any million dollar corporation would be jealous of!

    Thank, Weldo!

The audio / vehicle integration portion of the whole set up is actually separate from the kit. What I typically sell for factory integration is a Sony Radio, a steering wheel control module, all of the harnesses required to make it plug and play, all soldered together correctly. The Sony radio gets mounted behind the iPad mount and can be controlled through the iPad itself via Sony AppRemote. There are a few options for which radio you can go with, and I stay as competitive as possible with online prices and labor rates for this type of work. That being said, my radio set ups typically cost between $300-$400 shipped.

Thanks for your interest in my product! I think it would be a great addition to your already awesome and unique build. Feel free to PM or email me with any questions.

    Shane@fyntund.com

Thanks Bryant! Looking forward to putting the new kit in your truck!

Which radios will work? Are they bolt in or is some customization required in mounting? Thanks.
