I still wonder what O.P. is using the truck for and why it's sponsored? Shouldn't we all know that before advising him on what he might want to spend the 10k on?

I'd vote for a "Roof Rack" like this one we saw on an early 4-runner on one of the Baja Trips. Was actually a "Double Rack" but at my age I figure I might be better off with the "Single Rack".

Leave the stock engine alone, keep that Toyota Reliability intact. It'll get you anywhere you want to go with the above setup.

Or instead of most of the stuff I listed, I heard there's a really good deal going on some clear film for your paint that runs about $6k WITH THE BONUS of it starting a huge fight on the forums again.

Oh, right... you said $10k; not $25k. Nevermind.

Not really trying to tell you what to do... however, you will be light years ahead later in life if you invest a lot NOW. WAY ahead... my buddy and I were talking about this the other night, how if we knew then (in our late 40's) what we know now (we knew it then, just didn't act on it) - we'd be set for retirement already. he told me a story about some guy he was talking to that was in his mid 30's - he told him that he had already fully funded his retirement because he saved like crazy in his 20's - so he only funded his 401K to the amount of the match he received since that's 'free' money. because of compound interest - saving a lot early in life will make a HUGE difference later in your life and give you so many options. that being said... have fun with your truck!

I would ditch my standard frame for a custom tube frame, do solid axle front with links front and rear.

funny... as I'm usually the one showing the compound interest chart - I was thinking about doing that but was lazy this time!

Yeah.. but fun things are fun too! I've put away $1k from every paycheck since I got my first good job at 23, which has me retiring at 55 with some slightly conservative capital market expectations. That gives me plenty of retirement cash flow to continue doing fun things. But that doesn't mean I don't also want to do fun things now! Balance! If you don't spend money on fun things like truck parts to keep you sane, you'll just spend it on therapy later anyway :D

I totally understand - and wasn't trying to be judgmental as I have no idea what your current situation is (I didn't really read through the entire thread) - just wanted to point something out.

For me - it's about upgrading my truck in the areas that impact what I want to do with it, which is why I start with suspension and tire/rims - and sliders, probably a winch after that... etc. Personally, I couldn't imagine spending as much money as it cost on a SC. That's pure more money than brains IMO. :crapstorm: I get that more power is always fun... but not for that kind of $$! Anyway... good luck on whatever you decide!
