Oh ok so it's near the fan, because that's behind the glove box, that is the next thing I'll check. Thx

Ok guys here are the results, There is one relay down at the fan and it was fine. The problem is the fan itself which was replaced 1 year ago this month.

FYI for those who do not know, you can get to the fan motor (attached to the fan) and relay, without removing the glove box, If you follow the right side of the glove box down under the dash and reach up under your hand will be right on the motor and the relay is right there as well. We unplugged the connector that powers the fan motor(right side of motor) and used a test light to see if it was getting power to the fan motor. With the test light in the small plug and turning the fan on the light will light up letting you know that power is getting to the fan (there are two sides of the plug the test light can go in and only one side will show power the other is neutral) the light came on every time so we plugged it back in, turned the fan on and (rapped) on the motor a couple times and it came on.

No one thought it was the fan because it was replaced only a year ago but....On the bright side I tore the dash apart and replaced(fixed) the four dash lights that were out.

I bought it from rock auto and got the TYC brand which is the only lifetime warranty product. I called and they said their products were typically very good (hence the warranty) I had to purchase another one for $33.99 plus $7.14 shipping, when It is returned they credit my card the full amount of the part as well as shipping for a total refund of $41.13 (rockauto sent the new one priority 2 day shipping and will be here tomorrow their awesome)

I am sending the HVAC (Climate Control) unit back that I purchased for $118.26 from Boch Toyota in MA. They are issuing full refund minus shipping which was $14.91 so I loose that plus my cost to ship it back to them.

Fair price all in all I think.

Thank you all again so much for your professional input, really appreciate it!

    Doug

since you know it is getting power, then maybe it has a bad ground wire and touching a wire from the ground terminal of fan housing to a metal part under the dash will fix it. I have seen ground wires go bad on fans before.

Wires are all in good shape, checked all the wire harnesses under the dash, nothing frade or loose. Rapping the motor a couple times and having it come on pretty much tells us its bad.

ya that'll do it lol, just wanted to throw that out there to always check the ground connection if you have good voltage power to it.

generally there isn't much difference to any fan brand other then the bearings they use

some will make a slight flutter sound almost like a gentle pulse on low speed if it has roller instead of sleeve bearings. doesn't effect durability but sleeve bearing type motors do work quieter yet roller bearing motors "claim" to wear less and last longer.

same here, fan motors are a very strange breed, I don't know if there is any brand they consider oem replacement for any manufacturer, im pretty sure there is nothing proprietary about them so I think they all just use off the shelf suppliers for those.

So long as it's life time warrantied that works for me and TYC is. I just hope this thread helps someone else with this issue.

Ok new fan motor came today, I installed it and it works great.

Hopefully this is a closed case...

Kudos to this forum and all who contribute in a serious and professional way, With my dash lights, heater module lights and fan fixed I feel like its a new vehicle only with almost 230,000 miles.

    Thank you!

Just FYI I believe the TYC brand motor is roller bearings because on high it sounds like a 747 is taxying a runway next to you....
