I hate to make another which lift should I get thread.... but here it is.

First off, I have a 2015 TRD O/R. I have ~$2k budget. If I am under then I would look into adding trail armor sooner, Sliders and skid.

I have been looking at the OME 3" with Dakour leaf packs in the back, but during my reading of the 300 page OME Q & A, and all the various other suspension threads, I ran across the toytec ultimate kit.

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/OME-Tacoma-Suspension-lift-kit_p_231.html

so there is about a $200 difference between the two, and I will need UCA's with either one.

    which should I go with?

Interested to hear a response from someone because I too was looking at a toytec lift for my 2012. Hope someone can chime in and let us know.

The toytec ultimate lift is in my price range also when I'm in the lift market down the road. Wonder how much the ride is affected? Price installed out the door should be under $550 or so. So with wheels and tires that should keep you around $2000.

OME gets my vote. great kit for the price. I like that you can easy switch to 886 or 887 if your needs change, and you can swap in and out a bunch of different leafs to adjust the pack to suit your needs.

I've been asking myself the same question, but have been leaning toward the ultimate or boss kits. I like the toytec kits because they are adjustable with a spanner wrench, which is a nice feature.

I will be installing the lift myself with help from a friend. If I go OME, I will pay for them to assemble the fronts to save the hassle.

switching to 886/887 is a good option. I will be adding an AP bumper in the future, hopefully the aluminum to save weight but thats pending my wallet situation.

I was in the same boat a few months ago. My brother got the toytec kit for his fj. I loved it so much I bought myself a pair of front coilovers a few weeks later. Rides great, easy install, and they are adjustable which is a plus for me.
Edit: They also come pre-assembled from toytec

If you do go with the OME coils, I would recommend staying away from the 886 coils. They are just too stiff for most applications.

Very pleased with my OME setup.

Even though your probably already familiar with the spring rates, thought I would list them:

I've never had OME in my truck, but my friend did. I have the Toytec Boss Kit and, it's much much better than the OME w/887's. Might be a lil more for the Toytec kits, but money will worth it if you ask me. Even the wife likes them.

always good for a refresher. there is so much info available its hard to retain all of it lol. which is part of why I have been so indecisive. but the snow is melting and its time to get on with the mods :goingcrazy:

So 885s with the 90000 that way I dont have to change when I add the bumper?

If your going OME, go with either 885/887 if your running stock. Only use 886 if your running armour

I have icons with dakars and sometimes I wish I would have went with full ome to have that extra cash for something else.

Some people run ome rear shocks with dakars for the rear, and bilstein 5100 with 885 coils up front. I kinda wish I had this setup.

I have the Toytec Boss system (no diff drop) with the OME Dakar leafs and Light Racing upper control arms. I was between the OME and Toytec, went Toytec for the adjustability verses adding spacers on the OME. Rides great to me, slightly firmer but still smooth and more controlled. I installed it myself with a friend and it took us 4 hours, very easy install. Look for some discount codes and you'll be under your $2000 limit.

To the OP, here is my opinion. When looking for a suspension kit, I wanted it to be adjustable, durable and rock solid. After doing research and reading TWF about different lifts, everybody was like "get ICON or King". So I spoke to the Service Consultant at my Toyota dealership about getting a lift and what his suggestions were. He said that they have a direct supply with ICON, King, Toytec and OME. I told him my preferences and that I was interested in the King lift and he explained to me that King, ICON and the Fox lifts are racing-type shocks. They are definitely badass and expensive, but require more maintenance and the bushings tend to squeak over time. He said that a lot of King, ICON and Fox owners will get the lower bushings replaced like every year from squeaks. This info is from a reputable dude who sees and works on thousands of Tacomas a year. The price wasn't an issue either because I was already interested in the more expensive system and had a supercharger installed just recently by them. He just wanted me to make the best purchase for my preferences and give me the best options. So he suggested getting the Boss Suspension System with Light Racing UCAs and a Toytec AAL. No squeaks because they use bushings like the OEM ones and don't have ball joints like the Total Chaos UCA, which tend to squeak over time also. I wanted a slightly lifted (1.5" to 2") kit with reliabilty and toughness so the Boss Suspension System sounded good. I just got mine ordered and installed for $3400 at the dealership, plus a new grill. I'm still testing it out but it is awesome right now! I do not regret getting the Boss lift kit one bit, I love it.
I also got a 2015 TRD Pro TOYOTA grill installed on my 2013 and it looks killer. I need to make a build thread soon to show my setup and the new grill. These guys spend time, money and hours uploading their builds and sharing. It's always cool to check out other Tacoma customizations and get ideas and info. Stay tuned and hope you get a great suspension kit!
