Hey tacomaman06, thanks for sending the spacers but i dont have a carrier bearing on my truck. I assumed i had one before you sent the spacers, is there any other place you can think of that these spacers can go. If not i will send them to someone that can use them. Its a 98 reg cab base model 4x4. I get the same vibrations that you had on yours.

All of my suspension is oem from factory (i still think i do and need to replace the shocks). I feel like the vibrations are coming from the left side of the truck somewhere. Any Ideas?

 

no prob...yeah, send them to someone who can use them. have you tried getting your tires road force balanced?? you may wanna try that first if you havent already.

 

I have an appointment to do that this week, we will see. I just got new wheels and the vibration is the same with the new wheels. So i doubt the balance is off but the guys at discount tire are going to do it anyway just to be sure.

 

Thanks again for the spacers. Did you have to get longer bolts and did you just support the carrier bearing with a jack?

 

i made mine which where a little thicker and had to use longer bolts. im guessing yours is an 05+ and tacomamans was a pre 05 and idk if there was any differences.

im pretty sure i actually used the bolts that held my sway bar on haha

 

the stock bolts work fine. loosen both bolts,but only remove one at a time and install the spacers one at a time....wont have to even use a jack stand.

 

they work for both.

 

Nice, took five minutes to put in. Vibrations at high speeds are gone. To think I've had my suspension for six months and this is all it took haha

I like this fix! Think I'll try it but here's something I just found out today 'bout my 08... I shift to 4th speed from drive and the vibrations/ shudder are nearly gone. Any thoughts?? I have the low speed vibrations on accelleration and the shaky/shudder on decel. Could this fix help or I am barking up the wrong tree?

 

it should take care of most...if not all,of it.

Is this fix only for lifted Tacomas? Will it change the angle of the driveline shaft? Just wondering before I try this.

 

for the most part...its for lifted trucks, but it may work on stock suspension..............will only drop the driveshaft angle a quarter inch.

8pm tonight.. Had a few 1/4" spacers laying around from another job. Installed them and torqued to 27lb.. Drove it around the block up to 60 mph, it appears the vibration in the gas pedal is gone. Thanks for the TIP!
