Based on everything released on the Ford Raptor I really thought I was going to be jonesing one, but my local dealership has one out front and I gotta say...its not doing it for me yet. Didnt drive it yet, but on looks alone another Tacoma win in my book.

Sorry for the crummy blackberry camera pics...

Orange is a bad color for any vehicle, Make it black with the 4 door Cab, I'd consider it.

I like it, only thing missing is the 4 door option and a lower price tag :)

    edit:

starting at $38,000.00 out of my league for a truck

I definitely think it has potential. Im a double cab guy though...so Id have to see one of those. I like the paint...needs a different grill though. My biggest complaint is the consoles. Such a damn fancy truck, and yet the radios etc are a carryover...same crap look used in the Escape etc. Bleh...

A fully loaded truck with the 6.2L 400 hp engine coming next year will likely push the price to $48,000. I'll be curious to see how hard depreciation will hit these trucks.

that interior looks like crap.. its a truck - not an aeroplane. I've really hated all the Ford's interiors for YEARS..

Only thing I really don't like is the graphics which I think are optional. Price wise, it's really not that bad I don't know why everyone keeps complaining about price. It's a FULL size truck, not midsize. They're not cheap. A 4x4 Tundra TRD with the 5.7L goes for 35k. And an F150 FX4 is the same as well. So compared to that, you can look at it as a 3k option package on an FX4 which IMO isn't bad for all you're getting between the extra off road electronics, suspension, wider stance, etc. Will be better next year with the optionial 400hp 6.2L. I'd definitely drive one of these, however I'd never buy one just because I don't have a use for that as there isn't much desert terrain in southeast Pennsylvania haha. Definitely a niche vehicle though. As far as Ford reliablity, don't know if that's just a general jab at Ford or what but I know plenty of people who have had F150's of all different generations with no major issues. I mean I hear plenty of people bring up how the Taco is the best selling midsize pickup, and for obvious reason and the same goes for the F150 it's been/was the number 1 selling vehicle for how long?

Would be cool as mentioned in previous threads to have a Tundra version. However with it being such a niche vehicle, perhaps they don't think it would be worth making.

Well, fully loaded Tacoma is around $30k sticker price. Add long-travel front and rear for $8k (low estimate) and fiberglass fenders and bedsides for $1k and you're already over the Raptor's $38k sticker price and have no factory warranty on all that new stuff.

It's a lot of truck for the money. I'd definitely swap out the grill, but then that's what tons of people have done to their Tacomas. Can't hold an ugly grill against any vehicle.

Acronyms aside, my Ford got my Tacoma out of the desert and back home. I wouldn't tow with anything that Toyota makes simply because they don't make anything big and powerful enough.

Ford turned down the government bailout because they didn't need it. They run a solid company.
