My truck i a 2010 that has about 40k on it now and the rattle just started recently. In the past I thought it was just that the rear door didn't get shut tightly so I'd slam it firmly and it would go away. Well now that doesn't solve it and sounds almost as if the latch mechanism isn't shutting all the way and holding it tight. I did some searches but it seems that lots of people were describing rattles from the front door(s) or issues with the windows rolled down. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what the solution (if any) was or if there's a thread that details a solution if I missed it in the search. Thanks!

Check the mount for the seat belt. Sometimes it allows the clip to rattle agaisnt the door or the mechanism itself may be involve.

Did you get the seatbelt recall done? If not, tell the technician about the rattle so it can be looked at while the panel is off.

I notice when I close my door the plastics shakes around the front of the rear wheel well. The oscillations are enough to make an annoying cheap plastic rattle sound everytime I close the door. Havent figured out a real fix for it

    I'll check into this.

Yes, I did have the recall done at the dealership.

This isn't so much when I close it as it is when I'm driving down the road. Bumps cause a constant rattle sound that comes from the passenger side rear access door. It's pretty annoying unless I crank the music up.

The recall work might have introduced the rattle?

That's actually not too bad of an idea really. If I play that along w/the dumb card they may check it all out for me (to include problem areas known to them) even though I'm out of warranty since it wasn't too long ago that they did that recall.

I will go check those now as that's easy enough. Also, I thought the same thing because I keep a comical amount of Dickies cups on that pocket (loves me some cheap ice tea refills!) and took them out when slamming the door didn't help. I thought maybe something was rattling around but no dice. Pocket is empty and rattle persists. It also doesn't sound like a plasticy rattle and more of a deep metallic rattle much like the door latch you described.

Mine isn't engine speed related and is direct impact related like bumps and pot holes but it's to the point where even road irregularities are enough so it pretty much just rattles constantly while traveling down the road.

My glove box rattles. If I leave it open, the noise stops.

Mine always had a slight barely noticeable rattle. After the seatbelt recall was done it was a little louder. I know those panels and plastic clips just never go back the same way.

I'd either have someone hold the plastic paneling while you drive, or remove it yourself and take a test drive. If the noise goes away with the plastic paneling off or being held tight then you know its the paneling.

If it still does the noise with the paneling off then you know its probably a metal rattle somewhere within the door or its not latching tight.

Is there a cone shaped bumper on the active door?

So I just went out and tightened all Torx bolts & they seemed pretty snug so I'm not sure my issue isn't inside the panel. I may call up Toyota and tell them that there was a rattle that developed shortly after them doing the seatbelt recall which isn't entirely inaccurate. I think I only have a couple thousand miles at most since they did that so it's entirely possible that whatever they did undid itself since then. As long as it doesn't cost anything it's worth having them check out for free before I go any further.
