Sirius

So upgrading to a new Head Unit. Going to be doing a lot of traveling soon and want to know if the Shark Fin antenna will hook right into the new Sirius Ready head unit. I know I need to buy a new Sirius Tuner for it and it comes with a new antenna. But can I use the stock Shark Fin for my Sirius antenna?

 

The Shark fin worked on my XM that came with the truck and xfered the XM unit to my Nav from
FLTrucks.

 

Yeah but that's an OEM radio to an OEM radio. It should work, I'm talking about replacing my Entune Plus unit with an aftermarket Sirius ready receiver.

^^yup, just need to find the correct adapter to plug into the plug at the kick panel, then plug the other side into the XM/Sirius module that you will need with the aftermarket radio and you're golden.

 

Not sure if I used the SFA12M or SFA12F but no adapter was needed on my 2010 Sport. Plugged right in like a landline telephone jack.

If you had factory XM and don't want to waste $60, you can take the cable out of the factory headunit. It is about 3 inches long and goes from the satellite plug on the back of the radio (blue square, if i remember right) to the XM module inside the factory radio. If you look through the slots in the back of the radio you can see it.

Remove the cable from the radio, remove the tan plastic piece from the cable, and you've got a free antenna adapter.

 

Best tip ever. Will give this a try.

 

Remove a few screws to take off the back panel. Bend the bracket slightly and you can access the tan connector. Was a bit of a beast to get out, but yup. Got it. Great tip and saved some $$.
