TRS BiXenon High Beams turn off entire headlight when switched on

Hey everyone

Did a quick search but most of the causes of this seem to be folks didn't use a proper relay or control boxes or theres something not attached, etc. I'm not thinking any of that goes for my issue.

I recently installed a Morimoto BiXenon System that I got from TRS. Got everything from the Control box to the harnesses/shrouds/projectors all from TRS. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the stuff and had no problems until yesterday. When driving home I wanted to see what the "high beams" looked like now that I was on a nice dark road and when I switched them on they stayed on for 0.5 secs then the headlights shut off. I'd go back to Low beams, right back on they would come. Tried turning off the Fogs and doing it again...same thing, low beams work great, they come on fine, you try switching to high beams even "flashing" them and the lights go off.

Opened up the hood today to see if there some something obvious that would explain it, and I can't find a damn thing. All the connections seem fine, the High beam voltage signal is coming from the Blue wire in the TRS harness / Red wire on the stock. I know that it was working when I installed everything but now it shuts off. I had tried the high beams several times on the day of install and they worked. The solenoids are working fine, I can hear them click down and the high beams will work for a fraction then just everything turns off.

Thoughts???? Could this be a bad controller.....I don't think it's the ballasts since the low beams work great. I'm planning on calling TRSAndrew tomorrow but before I bothered him, figured I'd give you all a try.

It's definitely not the projectors, the cutoff shield inside just drops, having nothing to do with the bulbs. But it seems like it could be a bad controller. Didn't you do something to your h4 connectors? Tapping it for halos, modifying it, etc?

 

High beam fuse or controller box. Just let us know if it's not the fuse!

 

Kinda have the same problem except my low beams dont turn on. High beams work when i plug the ballast into the high beam plug. Im thinking it may be the control box. Getting a new one today and gonna see if that fixes the problem

 

My bet would be the high beam fuse is blown. Replace it and try it again. If it does it again, you could have the same issue I had, the solenoid froze up in the projector, causing the fuse to blow when I cycled the high beams. Low beams worked fine.

 

I'll check the fuse as soon as I can, likely this weekend, had a nasty stomach bug that's put me out of commission the past 4 days.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the control box for me. I can hear the solenoids click and the high beams do go on for 0.5 secs before cutting out the lights. I'd think the high beams wouldn't come on at all even for a fraction of a second if it were the high beam fuse. I even tested with a volt meter that I have power going to the high beam output on the H4 plug . But I'll be checking it all the same.

 

Switched the control box out and it still doesnt work. I'll double check the fuses but if that doesnt work then i have no idea
