So, I've been trying to sell my boat for a while, anyways, a guy asked to trade me for a 1988 Tacoma. I'm wondering if it's really worth it. I was going to do it because I thought it would be fun to ride for a bit, but I will be selling it. Here's what the guy posted about it:

"1988 Toyota 4x4 22re 5 speed. Has 529 gears with lockers in front and rear. 9000lb warn winch. Truck has 170k miles but motor has less than 10k miles. Also changed to carburetor when rebuilt. Homerville Ga."

Will be posting pics, just have to save them to the computer first.

Depends how much you are selling your boat for and how much you can sell that truck for. Dont forget to figure in the cost to transfer the title to your name on the truck.

I've got the boat posted at 4000 obo, but am looking at 3500 out of it. It's a 1990 and the motor is great, but it's hard to get someone to finally bite on it.

I guess, if anyone knows, would like to have a heads up on anything specific to look for about it. I just figured the truck would be quicker/easier to get rid of close to the price I'm looking for, and would open a broader range of interested buyers.

We are talking about a truck that is 27 years old! That is older then some people on the forum, ha

If it runs and the floor boards are intact, then I say do the swap.

Lets say you take the truck , ride it for a bit, mess around, whatever. After sometime you sell it worse case scenario for $2K-2500, which I think is easily possible to some highschool kid or farm hand type, then I think its a win win. Boats are a pain to unload, trucks not so much.

Confirm that it has the 5.29 gears and what type of lockers. Sucks that someone pulled the fuel injection and put a stupid carburetor on it but otherwise it could be a fun truck. Also I don't see any plates or stickers on the windshield, is it street legal / road worthy or strictly an off-road toy?
