For Those Of You With An XR Lower Valance Cover (Black)...

How the hell did you install it properly? Obviously I can tell which side is up, etc., but there are tabs on the bottom that just push against the lower bumper. Did you guys remove these, or am I missing something?

 

Haha, I just did this yesterday. You have to cut the tabs at the bottom for it to fit flush on a regular Tacoma. Simply just slide it in and make sure those hooked tabs grab onto the back of your lower grill.

 

So you trimmed off those bottom tabs? Thats what I figured...but I didnt want to go doing it if it wasnt necessary. Yeah the top clicks right into place though.

 

I trimmed them with a dremel. I'd also suggest getting some 3M double-sided tape and tape strips on the back side so that it doesn't have too much play.

Here's what i started out with:


I cut off the bottom piece (the one that has red marks)


Had to trim a little bit because of my light bar getting in the way...


Mounted and ready to go:


it "hooks" on to the oem lower bumper grille.. I used 3M Automotive molding/Trim tape for the bottom... I used two long pieces. The tape is about 1" wide....This things not going anywhere

Heres my finished product. Damn happy with the results. In conjunction with my colormatched grille...I love the direction the truck is going. Still more minor appointments to go though! I really need to take the truck out and get some decent pictures lol.

I got mine from 2 friends. First one I had, it was held on by the original metal clips. I trimmed the bottom so that it would sit flush. I lost it once going through a water crossing. Got another one, lost that one the same way. Few weeks later, found it in a bush. I just don't like how it didn't fill up that part of the bumper. Painted looks so much better.
