Honestly if I'm driving mine "normally" you can barely hear it at all under 2000rpm. When I get on it, it whines but definitely not that loud. Granted the rest of the truck is stock still so it is relatively quick and the engine isn't heavily loaded. I'm very happy with performance currently.

I'm sure when I install heavy 33" tires (before I re-gear) it will make a lot more noise and power output will seem pretty weak. If you run big tires and don't regear it's still going to be noisy and slow. It isn't that the supercharger isn't effective, you would just be running it under geared and boosting all the time without correcting the tire size and gearing issue. I always see threads where people ask if they should re-gear or supercharge, but both have completely different purposes. I'm sure if I was already running big heavy tires on an otherwise stock truck, I wouldn't be too impressed with the performance of a supercharger either.

Mine was recently installed so I'm still driving fairly aggressively, but averaged 16-17mpg in mixed driving with the last two tanks.
