Everyone in the U.S. is so obsessed with how pretty their truck is, and how their street performance is. Everywhere else in the world, trucks are built to be indestructible, not lap a track.
That's why the hilux is so much better. It's made to do work, not look pretty. That's something we lost after the 90's.

Does is look like someone stuck an air compressor up the tailpipe of a corolla? Yes, but there's a reason it's used by militaries and militias. If anyone has ever watched Top Gear, you know it take close to a nuclear explosion to kill one of those MoFos.

I would easily pay what I did for my Taco and then some for one.

Oh come on. You know it's true. People are more obsessed with whether or not they can get wood grain trim and chrome wheels on their truck now rather than its actual usage. Theres no reason manufacturers should be making them the way and size they do now.

SMKYTXN posted the "Free Emblems" link, so I ordered this one:

Not sure if I'm gonna put it on my truck or not.

Not everyone, but a majority of people yes. But if people are willing to pay then why not

Because it ruins the image for those that make actual use out of theirs.
Seeing a bunch of people who have never blue collar worked a day in their life buying trucks so they can look like they've got hair on their chest. i.e. Mall Utility Vehicles

Ruin the image? I've been working since I was 14 and have never thought about other people buying mall crawlers ruining my image. You should stop worrying so much.

Thats not totally true. Blue collar or white collar we all have interest and what we expect out of a vehicle.

I've worked as a coal miner for the last 11 years of my life. My truck is stock, and even if I lift it and go with a bigger tire it will never see any serious off road.

I have a friend who is a lawyer and his truck is in the dirt more than on the street.

My truck pulls a boat, and trailer, the bed gets used to haul building supplies, and the 4x4 gets used only in the snow. I want it to look nice and handle well on the highway. It's true off road ability means next to nothing to me.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
While I agree with a majority of that, it's not entirely true. We still build some really damn tough trucks. Should see what the Ford Super Duties are put through on some of the job sites I've been on and keep on going. Most all of them are 2009 and newer models and they take a beating big time. Workers just don't care, they don't gotta pay for them so they drive them into the ground. I'm one of the few guys who drives them nicely because I don't like costing the company money to fix broken equipment. I want it to be reliable and ready to work when I need it. I'd love to see a Tacoma or Hilux handle what those big trucks go through. Toyota builds strong trucks, but they are nothing like the 1979-early 1990's Pickups they used to make. The Hilux barely resembles a truck anymore, now it looks like a crossover SUV with a bed, at least Tacomas still have that bulky truck look to them.

Ok let me rephrase that. I'm referring to those who care solely about the image. 90% of the people who I have seen that lift it up, kick the tires out, and bish about gas mileage. They piss me off because all they care about is THEIR image.

Why would that piss you off? Who care about what other people do, or the reasons for doing so.

I've gone through both an F-150 and a Ram 1500, and both of them have had more mechanical problems that I care to admit. My friend lives out in central america and his Hilux does not flinch for anything.

Exactly. I don't see it as a problem, it's their money and their right to have freedom of choice in this country. You buy it, do what you want with it. Things like the truck nuts I cannot stand and it irks me, but as long as they ain't hanging from my hitch I could care less that people put the gay things on their truck.

The reason it makes me mad is that people I've been around who do have the mall assault vehicles are always so vocal about BA they are, or how hardcore they are. Hence my hatred for them. I'm also from atlanta where er'body is louder than a straightpipe schoolbus

No I can't, needless to say I'd give an arm and a leg to have one.
