I lifted at around the same mikes as that's when I bought it at. I never noticed any vibes or grinding but the CV Axel had a ton of play in it at the diff side, so I decided it need to be done. I installed it at about 105000 mikes and replaced the Axel as well. There was pretty deep groves from the needle bearing. Now thee is almost no play that makes me feel better, just knowing there is no play.

So the guys with CV having a play and vibe? What mileage that happen at, anybody with that problem from factory ?
I am wondering if people are driving with not enough gear oil in front differential and riding that idle bearing dry.
I have to say I had been checking mine but at almost 90k miles my CV has 0 play.
But I changed my gear oil at 12000 miles and overfilled front diff by alot, so I know my needle bearing (likes it or not) is always running in the oil bath.

I can't remember what the mileage was when I first noticed it, but it was probably around 15k.

I had taken the stock skid of and was crawling around under the truck just checking things out. For some reason I pushed on up on both the CV's where they exit the diff. Noticed the drivers side had way more play than the passenger.

Seems like the next time I drove I started noticing a low key vibration intermittently. Searched here on TW and found a thread about this issue. Took it out and performed the four wheel drive test. I have had the issue pegged ever since, but it never got worse. So I didn't bother with the fix.

Jumped to the lift install a few weeks ago. Figured I would do the lift and see if it got worse as some people seem to never have the problem, and my vibe wasn't bad. Well now it has gotten worse and it is time.

I will be ordering the parts and pieces today and hopefully have them to do the install this weekend or early next week. Should have just done it when I did the lift.

It was before we even knew for sure the bearing could be removed from outside. One (and I mean that literally) person had said they had done it but he never replied back to questions. So Toyota split the cost with me 50/50. If only I had waited another year. That's when we (TW) started investigating changing it from outside. A year and a half later, I ended up changing the needle bearing. There are picture in either this thread or the original front diff thread (no, this is not the original thread. It was created after we solved everything.). So I don't know what the first one looked like. The second bearing looked okay, so I think the noise was the axle. It was scored horribly. That's why I say be prepared to replace the axle too.

I had my 2010 tacoma leveled for a while and had the grumble noise, I was just wondering with out reading through 114 pages of comments if the issue still exists if you lift it rather than level it?

    This ^^^
doesn't matter if you even lift it. You could put new OEM suspension on if it was worn out and it could vibe. It could vibe after 50k miles with no lift, that's rare, but it can happen.

Just installed the replacement bushing sent by ECGS. The one I removed had the outside edge flared slightly and the inside had a score mark around the inside, so that's where my vibes were coming from again. Don't know if the first one was installed incorrectly or the CV caused the flare. Either way, vibes gone again. Let's see if this one holds tough.

    Unfortunately need to do this...

Going to go with the ECGS Bearing, but dont see the reasoning for $60 price tag on the removal tool. If anyone has one to give or for sale please PM me.

I just ordered a bushing and removal tool etc. Suspension is ordered so I figured even with less than 1000 miles I would just knock this out now.

you will be glad you did it when you already have the front suspension torn down. better than doing it 100 miles later like I did.
