Trade a truck just to get different color?

Did that to keep the payments lower. I also have a mortgage to pay, college educations to save for, etc. and I figured that since the truck would hold it's value so well that paying longer than normal wasn't an issue.

Take 2k and put it in a 529 college fund. Then send me 1k for the financial advice. You'd be happier with the 2k in college savings for your kids than you would be spending 3k for a different color truck. At least, I would. :D

Come on man. Really. You have a mortgage and college to pay for and you are still considering wasting money on a new truck because of a color.

Another option is to take the truck to a few dealers and just tell them you would like a price to just buy the truck. That will give you a good idea of how much the truck is really worth to a dealer. Armed with that information you can better decide if you really want to trade in the truck. Or you can always sell the truck privately then go purchase the truck you want in the color you want outright. This route is the biggest hassle but will offer the biggest return. Either way you will have an idea of what the real numbers are with the deal instead of guessing.

I didn't mean that 4k is the norm, but one better than a factory job can be found if you know the right people and they won't be "outside" only, but yeah you wouldn't be getting into body work (which I wouldn't expect in the case of a new Tacoma, sure possible tho). You're right jamming one out/changing colors would definetly increase cost. Putting a car on a rotisserie is apples and oranges comparison tho. Anyway not trying to argue, but I've been around body and paint for years, sometimes it comes down to who know. Obviously paint jobs can be really expensive, if I were to be putting a car on a rotisserie to spray you'd be looking at more than 10k. And sometimes you can find these slick paint jobs for cheaper than usual from someone wanting to make a name for themselves, could be a tech student or whatever, and if they're smart they'll be doing quality work bc they know it's their name and future $ on it.

The wrap info, came from reputable people (recently) who do it everyday with the best materials out like 3M vinyls etc etc. And wasn't meant to be taken like every vehicle wrapped would be damaged but is possible, I personally meant I'd be concerned it would and especially if I spent 4k only to have it screw the paint up.
And if you stop to think, it may have nothing to do with the person applying the wrap or the quality of the wrap itself, could be a poor quality paint or paint job underneather the wrap, via factory or body and paint shop. Like a literal underlying factor.
I personally don't have a problem with wrapping, but could never see spending 4k to do it especially on a lease vehicle. If I was gonna drop 4k on a lease it'd be something I could take off or out and not totally lose my money.

I remembered when i was looking to buy my Tacoma that dark grey and also black were my favorite colours that i wanted.
I ended up getting this ink bleu colour that at first i hated,or was nt too pleased with it,but at the time the price was right for that used Tacoma.
So i went for it,and after cleaning it,waxing it,and looking at it changed colour a bit in the sun,i just love that bleu!
I don t know ,changing Tacoma for just a colour matter,if you have the money, why not!
    Good luck
    Charly

Haven't read the entire thread, but my first reaction is: You can trade for whatever reason wish! No explanations, or approval, required.

Your only here once. If you can afford it, do it. I went back to a tacoma from an FJ cruiser, after 6 months, because my kids hated not having an opening window or an independent door to get in and out. Wish the Tacoma had a few of the features of the FJ.

What don't you like about it? I love the green. Voodoo blue is nice too but green is better imo.

I think the voodoo pops more.. less depressing. I jumped on the army green because I’m an army veteran.. but wish I would have done my homework on colors.

They're all great looking trucks but I don't think the green is depressing at all!
