I haven't found them to be that effective at getting rust off. An angle grinder with flap disc works best imo. You can pick a cheap angle grinder up at home despot for like $30

I'll be doing this next week when the rain has cleared up. Going to start with a hammer, then steel handbrush, and finally go to a brass brush on a 3/4" chuck:eek: ...god i love using a giant concrete drill whenever I get the chance.

    Oh your question right,
yeah hand drill should be fine as long as we aren't talking an ittybitty 1/4" balsa builder!

Too late now to say anything but when I did mine I somehow got some liner on the driver side door about halfway between the handle and the top. It's a vertical stripe about an inch and a half long. I didn't tape that high because I didn't think I needed to. And, thats the only place out of the ordinary I got it. Kinda weirds me out how it happened.

My dad has a huge angle grinder, I found some for like $40 may go that route and buy one of those

Yea I'd be using a hand drill and a wire brush attachment :anonymous:

Probably buy an angle grinder and go from there, there's more uses than just surface rust removal right?

I believe you just justified the purchase of a new toy;)

It's either that or you can stick to using your dremel:p

Pulled the passenger axle out to try to see if I could just clean around the front diff oil seal and install axle back it would stop the leak. since the leak just started happening after my boot slide mode. It didnt work. Actually its leaking worst now. So I ordered a new oil seal and will be doing that again sometime next week. Been using a big pry bar to remove the axle, do you guys think thats bad?

Angle grinder FTW - they are super useful, just change the wheel; cutting & grinding on steel, plastic, tile, etc.
Use eye & ear protection too!

Mine was doing some weird bogging, lunging, and jerking. I was seriously afraid it was a tranny issue even though it was a misfire based on the error code.

It turned out to be the spark plugs. I forgot to take a picture of the plugs but the wear was basically an exaggeration of the image below. New plugs. No more problems.

Yeah. You just described my 2 month thought process. I would check the spark plugs.

    alot still need done
Lol yea my last tacoma was a 2000 had the old style suspension with a 6 inch lift. Was like driving a bucking bronco lol. Would still have it if the frame didn't rust out. But I got a 01 now stock height pretty much for free. Went to the dealership late one night to get the supercharger off my old one but it was already gone :(
