How has the bumper done for you so far, have you taken it out yet? I had a question on the winch your running, thought you said it had an aluminum body. Do you think thats a necessity on a bumper like this or this?

Unfortunately all I have done is prep for Moab on the weekends so I have not yet gotten it out in the wild. :(

I like the AL body due to the fact that this winch is more exposed to the elements. Is it necessary? No. I got the winch because I really like the way it is built and how it works. But just about every winch these days has powder coat on it and that should be fine for years of use. What I do want to figure out is a way to cover the syn line and protect it from the sun and winter elements. The line will break down faster then anything else.

Man, I wish I could have done without my truck for a while. I was talking to Scotty about having him use my rig for a prototype bumper but I couldn't go without a ride for that long. It turned out great Eric, I am super jelly.

With the lights there, is there room to slide a custom made cover over it? Maybe out of aluminum?

Oh wow I didn't know I beat you out on that one. It's a great bumper for sure. Now you just need to save your pennies! ;)
That's an idea. I thought of maybe making a neoprene cover that is sort of flat piece that goes around the syn line in the center and then has velco on it so you can sort of tighten it down and easily remove when needed. Hardest part is going all the way around the drum and line.

I was looking on their site the other day. There no prices for this bumper yet, but the 4runner model which is similar is about $925 If I remember correctly. I'm seriously considering this as well, I like the two piece design! I can see this as being a relatively easy to maintain design.

The difference in price is due to the additional strengthening and reinforcement he had to design into the front of our frames. According to Addicted the front of our frames are extremely weak and thin. Therefore he took extra steps to strengthen the cross member and tie back additional support in the frame. From what I see this one goes far above other designs.

I have heard there might be a group buy to kick this off soon. So keep lurking but don't jump just yet. :)

No, it's not like that. We had talked about it a couple times but I hadn't pursued it in probably a year since I bought my arb. Glad someone cool finally did it.

OK whew! I loved my ARB but I will say the weight reduction is REALLY nice up front. My coilovers are thanking me for it. Biggest drawback I have seen so far is I don't have enough shelf on this bumper to safely hold my beer while I am working. :(

Nice! I know that someone here (cough, cough Bob) has a TRD coozie with a strong magnet in it that will stick to the side of our trucks as well. I always wondered where he got that. Now for sure I need to source one.

    AHEM! Bob? :D
