    Escort 8500 here also. I have had it 5 or 6 years, at that time the V1 and Redline were top of the line. Just didn't want to pay for that marginal extra detecting distance when there are such few straight roads around where i live.

    The GPS in the escort is a nice feature that stops alerts that are not police... however that does not work very well in the city... so I still say the valentine 1. They are both very nice.

    I've got a Redline mounted under my mirror which works well. My only complaint is that the new collision detection sensors/cruise control are starting to use K-band, which is annoying.

    I have mine mounted above my mirror, behind the tint strip. You can't see it from outside. Also hard wire it so that you don't have that dead giveaway cord hanging down to your plug.

    I just looked and it appears the V1 and Redline are still top dogs out there. For the money I would go with the 8500 again or the v1 if I were to do it again.

    This X 1,000, can't beat the GPS feature. Also street camera, laser and stores false signals. Can turn the screen completely black and use only sound and voice to alert you so only you know what's up ahead and ppl don't follow you knowing you have one when they see the screen light up. Just my .02 worth. $400 is 2 tickets in my area.
