The Toyota USA CEO should receive 10 lashes in a Public Flogging..........IMO

10 vehicles you would be foolish to buy

    Lowest-scoring truck: Toyota Tacoma

    49 overall score

    Base MSRP price range: $20,965 - $37,615
Lows: Ride, handling, driving position, high step-in, low rear seat.
With a punchy powertrain, the Toyota Tacoma excels for hauling, towing, and off-road use. But for everyday driving or commuting, the Tacoma feels dated and is uncomfortable. Clumsy handling makes it a chore to drive, and the rough ride is fatiguing, with constant jiggling and a rubbery feel over even small imperfections. The cabin’s high floor and low roof make access tricky and compromise the driving position. The rust-free composite bed is a handy and practical feature. Options can easily drive up the price well into full-sized truck territory. Fair cornering capabilities and long stopping distances contributed to a low score in our testing. A redesigned Tacoma launches in the fall

Is anything they said inaccurate? It's not the reasons many of us buy Tacomas, but it's fair to say that the truck feels dated and doesn't ride as smooth as competitors. For lots on here, that's a positive.

I especially agree with the comment on bouncy ride, especially over any imperfections.

Of course Toyota going to be all over this and install even smaller crappier engine and make truck more and more yuppie friendly with leather seats, bluefooth and large number cup holders for Starbucks and doggie poop holders for cleaning after puddles

Based off Consumer Report criticism of the Tacoma, I speculate their ideal mid size truck is the Honda Ridgeline. They want a truck that drives and rides like a midsize CUV. With that logic I'm surprised the Jeep Wrangler didn't make the list as well.

I don't find it uncomfortable at all, albeit I'm 5'10" 150lbs but still. I've driven it cross country several times and even while towing a 6x10 box trailer fully loaded. The only thing that's weird is I find myself resting my arm on the windowsill not the actual LHS arm rest, so I'm resting my arm on plastic instead of a thin fabric. Not that big of a deal IMO.

did they cover the fuel economy issue ?

CR is on the mark. You don't become an outstanding third world military vehicle and still cater to CR.

They didn't like the Wrangler either.

Yet it doesn't seem strange to CR that even though they don't rate the Tacoma very highly, it still outsells everything in its class. Some of us must be pretty happy with the truck.

I checked the numbers for the past month and that includes the new GM twins.
