I have had the Valentine One since December. I love my V1 and it has already saved my butt a few times.

I had an older Escort and then the cops really started using laser down here and it just told me when I had been busted.

    How's the V1 laser detection?

depends on where you live.. if you live in the city, or neartall trees or mountains like I do.. then the GPS is often worthless as minelosses its signal almost constantly.. which is just as annoying as falsealerts.. because it tells you .. "GPS lost,,, "GPS acquired"

Don't introduce a 3rd detector! I thought I had it narrowed down... Do you have to continually update the 9500?

I was under the impression that with laser, once you see it you are busted. No matter the detector.

I've updated it once since I bought it 2yrs ago. I live In rural country so not much changes for me out here. Don't believe I have ever lost the GPS signal, but I can see different terrain can affect it.

I know its not a detector but I use the Waze phone app. It is pretty accurate as people can confirm or deny if someone is there. I just have a phone holder suction cup and run my phone cord to the usb.

x3. You can send it in for an update from Valentine One.

I love my V1. I particularly like the arrows indicating which direction the RADAR source is coming from. It will tell you multiple directions if there are more than one source, how many sources, and what type of RADAR.

The Waze App rocks. And it's only getting better. I use it in conjunction w/ the Valentine One. I also "heard" that some police have asked Google to remove the officer reported portion.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/technolo...ve-Cop-Tracking-From-Waze-Traffic-App/384897/

I didn't read this particular article, but. If police are serious about reducing speeding and saving lives then the Waze App or anything similar should be high on their list of no/low cost ways to slow people down. Doesn't the Waze App accomplish what the "police" want, to slow downs speeders because speeding kills? /sarcasm.

Speeders don't kill. They just produce revenue for municipalities who's main source of revenue is minor traffic violations like speeding.

It is. What you're hoping for is that some of that LASER will scatter while he hits a car farther up and you'll pick up enough to give you a warning.

Yes. A warning would be nice.

I use the Waze app when I commute, but lately speeding hasn't been an issue. Construction is so bad that you can't ever get a break during rush hour.

I know I just thought if you didnt want to spend 200-400 on a detector waze is a great option.

This. I have an Ultragauge and you have the Scangauge. That's the look I'm going for. Was the wiring complicated?

I've got a Escort Solo 3 (I know that's not one on your list) but I switch between 2 vehicles and the cordless is nice. Corded detectors are better but this one has not let me down with detection. I have the laser turned off on the unit since if you are hit with a laser all the detector is going to tell you is "you are about to get a ticket". +1 on the Blendmount mirror mount for it. It's expensive but worth it IMO.

You need one more thing mounted up there.
