Interesting the diversity of 'problems' people think they have.

I'll wager our Fl sun is as much or more an issue than yours. Plus reflection off the water over long bridges.

As others have said, polarized sunglasses are the answer.

They'll be cheaper than your modding the truck plus useful in other places.

Just learn how to care for them. One way to start is leave them in the truck. It's why they have all those cubbies and cupholders.

I'm sure everyone just loves their sunglasses - and not everyone is as careless with them as I am.......... Got an eyeful of this glare this AM on the way to work, I figure half of you guys must drive North and South to work and another quarter live to the East of it. My wife and I just recently spent a late afternoon driving across the rez from Tucson to Ajo - facing a steadily lowering sun.

I'm going to try buying one of the decals - maybe from "Crawlarado"???????? We'll see if I'm better at "decaling" than keeping glasses in the truck......

Get the sticker and install it yourself. The trick to stickers is soapy water. It allows you to move it around and get all the bubbles out. The few bubbles that remain will leave in a few days as all the water underneath the sticker evaporates. You really can't use too much water. But use just a little bit of soap. A small drop of dawn in a gallon bucket is more than enough. Just a hint of suds is needed.

This trick also works for cleaning large windows with a squeegee. A lot of water, a little bit of soap and the squeegee. No rinsing necessary if you use just a little soap and the it will clean the glass very well.

This seems like the best course of action if you are bent on putting a coating of some sort on the hood, and is completely removable if you don't like it. Not sure why you have not commented on this. If you like the look, but don't like the fact that it's plastidip, take it off, then go for the paint/bedliner/other permanent coating of choice.

Instead of trying to put something on the hood to prevent the glare, why not just put something on your dash board that will block the light. You could make some sort of flip up type of visor or simply just apply some sort of film to the bottom 4 or 5 inches of the windshield. The section of the windshield that allows you to see the hood is pretty much useless for anything except...looking at the hood.

x5 or whatever on plastidip. I actually really like the look of it on white vehicles.

Ordered up a flat black 3M vinyl decal from "Crawlorado" - came right away - $75. They recommend you find a pro to install but offer that if you get messed up doing it yourself - and send a picture - they may cut you a deal on another decal. Found an internet price for the 3M vinyl film 3' x 5' of $45 if you want a more do-it-yourself approach and cut your own pattern.

Took my time cleaning hood with rubbing alcohol and white vinegar so it was clean as glass. Used homemade floating fluid - and a method found on internet - and found that for one person (a rookie), this can get hairy. Pros can laugh - but I needed more hands ..... finally got it right and set. Set down nice and looks really good - neighbors were impressed but none offered to help...... Decent product.

Tried it out this AM driving into morning sun @ 6:45. The 3M type 1080 vinyl - flat black - is still pretty shiny stuff and the reflection is still there but reduced. If it ever comes off - I'm going to use paint with a lot of texture.......

Nice Work. I failed miserably trying to install one on my TJ a few years ago.
