Any word on when any new info will be released by Toyota. Absolutely nothing since the Detroit autoshow. I keep checking back here and its mostly people still complaining about the styling or the motors which they very little about. lol.

The Tacoma is Straight stock at the moment
I've been checking multiple sources online but I can't find anything since then as well.
Are they waiting for Honda or Nissan to release info first?

Why would they be waiting on Honda or Nissan? I wouldnt expect numbers till very close to delivery. Keeps other manufacturers with competing models to not get a jump ahead, i.e. GM twins. Honda has no midsize and the ridgeline is still way out and frontier isn't in redesign, just diesel option.

Don't wanna sound like a douche, but please cite that something that confirms the diesel has been confirmed and will be available on current body style. I don't think anyone has confirmed that. Just rumor mill.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
This, Frontier and Titan have a new contract for small V block diesel engines coming as an option soon. And I think Ram might have either lost or pulled out of the Cummins contract and are starting to build their own in-house diesel engine for their heavy duty trucks like Ford has done since parting with International. Don't quote me on that last part though, I am not certain. Again that is another rumor going around.

I expect we will hear more in advance of the NY auto show in April.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a few different trucks there as well, or at least the same two pre-production trucks in different colors.

My guess is that there are more detailed engine specs at that time.

According to a friend who works at a Toy dealership. The mechanics and other key personall have started getting information on maintenance procedures and will be, if not already, attending seminars for the 2016 Taco as well as other new models. . They are very "cool" to letting out any information as Imo, they have a large inventory of 2015 models to sell. The last thing you want is some mechanic spreading the word about any specifics and influence any potential customers to wait. Dealerships even now have more technical info, obviously then we. At our local dealership, there are rows and rows of " new" 2015 models still to be sold. I would not expect much here until the first 2016 models actually appear or appears in print from Toyota manufacturing.

I extremely doubt they have any problem selling every one of those 2015s.

Can someone clarify this for me... Is Toyota actually changing the looks of the 2016 Tacoma? Or are they just tweaking and refine the equipment?

I think they are just holding most information back. It's ready ! Unlike GM, they ain't going to make a bunch of last minute, untested changes. It is a 2016 model and as such would be dumb to release info much before they had produced enough to start selling. It may dribble out a little but it will be well into the summer before we find out much. The motor is well known to the Lexus crowd.....use those numbers and you won't be far off. Even the 3.5L used in autos will be replaced with motors like the 2.0 turbo being used for the first time here in the Lexus Compact SUV. The 2.7 May be replaced by a smaller four with direct injection...that may be the new four down the road. Deal with it. New motors are getting smaller....just like the Fords. Look at the small twin turbo. Similar motors are where Toyota is headed too.

The 4.0 while an excellent motor gets dreadful mileage under light load compared to the newer 3.5. No way any of you guys would buy a 2015 for full list if you knew now the next one had a tested and highly regarded mechanics capable of the same or better off road and towing and handled much better with more room. The 3.5 is a jewel and will make you forget about the old motor...heck, every new motor they bring out is better then the one they replace.

IMho, they love the idea that people will gobble up the old archaic 2015 for full list becasue they aren"afraid" of a car motor.....this truck is as long in the tooth as you can get and only it's reputation has kept it going. It's like taking Sophia Loren out...heck, she's a 80 now and no matter how good looking she was, she's past her prime.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Yeah Right.... Thats what it is..
When Toyota released current Tacoma in Jan 2004 they had Motor numbers right there. They used Motor numbers as marketing because at the time MPG, power, was way better than anything on the market.
So back than Toyota apparently had no problems having numbers but now they do ?
First year of 2gen they sold 168,831 trucks.. Thats more than last year sales.
Every car manufacturer uses Motor numbers as marketing. But Suddenly Toyota for just Tacoma can not seem to get numbers.
    I find it very strange...
Its more than likely they are crap hence they trying to get them better.
I would take that 4.0 over that Direct injected engine any day.
Not only its easy to work on on the trail (Example Oil Filter located at the top of engine)
but the way its build it will outlast those car engines couple times over.

I dunno, there isn't anything earth shattering with any of the new trucks out there. (or cars for that matter) Still the same basic suspension designs...still burning petrol & diesel. Hybrid and electric power isn't a new idea. The 10 year old Tacoma can still hold its' own against the all new Colorado...tells me not much is "new". The '16 will have minor tweaks, but I don't think it won't be leaps bounds better than what it already is.

Only thing really different in vehicles, is adding more conveniences.

Maybe I'll get excited when Mr. Fusion comes to market....until then it is the same old ideas just being repackaged. :D :p
