I believe I do understand what you are/were saying. But, I could be wrong (not being sarcastic).

The clear line in the sand for me is choice/decision vs. something that can not be changed. Add that I believe people are born black, gay, straight, white, male or female (I doubt anyone with a straight face be it gay, straight, black, white, male or female would tell you they had a choice in the matter of their gender, race or orientation). So, my view is that we accept people as they are born or "forced" (for lack of a better term) to be and only judge them by the life they live with the choices they make. If you commit murder, yes, then you should be judged and treated accordingly. If you are full of hate and want to support the KKK, black panthers or NAZIs then again you should be judged and treated accordingly. But, because I'm born male and white or you're born black and female or gay or straight...then no, I don't believe we should judge. I don't believe it's fair to judge based on what I see as inherent qualities. In my inturpritation of your post, you fail to distinguish between chosen behavior and the way a person is born in how you think they should be treated and therefore I disagree.

I'd like to hear what religion actually teaches its parishioners to treat people differently based on how they are born becuase it sure wasn't tought by mine.

I am sure some of you have read the newest Indiana mess. If not, you should take a minute and read.
Memories Pizza is under fire for stating that due to their religious beliefs they could not cater a homosexual wedding. They do not refuse service to same sex couples that eat at their establishment but, based on their core belief would not cater a same sex wedding.

Since the media interview 36 hours ago they have received death threats, arson threats, protests and had to shut the doors due to the distorted media frenzy as well as the safety of their family. This makes it better?
Right or Wrong, this family was not spreading hate, making threats or hurting any human in their life choices or business model. Many groups love to chant "tolerance" yet seem to have issue with the 2 way street.

I honestly could not care less what their beliefs are. If I were refused service due to my beliefs, sexual orientation or penchant for midget strippers, I move on. Do not care.
If I were offended by their choices, I simply would not eat there. Much like Hodge did, when he threw away the pamphlet instead of organizing a protest and lynching the messenger.

Agree Chris. I think other than the systematic discrimination afforded by the law as it was first signed, it's just those on the fringe that want to cause a ruckus on either side. Lets be honest, if a person preparing my food is shitty about doing it, I don't want to risk eating it anyway. But then I'm the guy who WILL NOT send food back to the cook/kitchen ever for fear of who knows what...

On bright side for the pizza joint in Indiana their GoFundMe page shows $400,000.00+ in contributions so maybe it'll be a paid vacation for them depending on duration.

too much PC BS to appease everyone. live and let live is the way it should be.

like stated earlier, if an establishment doesn't want to serve a certain person for whatever reason then fine. when massive amounts of people decide not to go to that place due to it, that's fine as well. if people aren't being twatwaffles on either side (being distrspectful, dickheads, threatening), then move on and go about your day.

Its about time someone stand up for the rights of people who have faith & believe what the Bible says.
People should not be forced to accept an illegitimate lifestyle being called legitimate.
right now the people ( & government ) are calling a spade, a purple goat.
what is wrong with calling a spade a spade?

Once a gay couple finds out that the business is Christian, and said buisness respectfully declines to cater a wedding due to their beliefs, why would the gay couple not respect the buisness for sharing their beliefs, and move on and find someone who doesn't have those beliefs. When people choose to not let their morals guide them concerning buisness or employment decisions, they have already made a choice.

Nothing is going to get better until people treat people as human beings instead of a label and such.
We all bleed red no matter what we believe or our faith.
I am so disgusted by the politics and corruption in society these days.

What if it was a black couple and a " we won't serve non whites business " , do you think your reasoning still applies ?

They are both discrimination and the road is one and the same the only difference is that in one case the discrimination is being legitimized under the veil of " relegious freedom " so getting back to my original post , just call it freedom to discriminate .

Is it discrimination to not want to participate in an event that based on your beliefs and morals is wrong? The businesses did not refuse to serve homosexuals across the board. They did not want to provide a service for a specific event, again that they morally don't support. I applaud them for not participating in an event they do not agree with.

definition - treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit.

so...yes, by doing that based solely on the fact they are day.

should they be able to turn away a customer? yes. will they have to deal w/ the consequences? yes. that's the fun of owning a business that open to the public.

the people that own that pizza place in indiana are savy.
    1. Make incendiary statement
    2. Wait for internet hate mail
    3. "Close" and go home
    4. Make rounds on right wing media and stick to talking points
    5. Make more this week of "discrimintaion" than in the last 5 years
    6. Retire to the ring wing media talking head circut and never make pizza again.

from story one i saw this was going to be a we are the real victims/ chistian persecution game play to fleece the flock for fun and profit. It works time and time again.

Per that definition, they were not discriminating. Had they assumed and not known what their intentions were, that would have been discrimination. They were not turned away from buisness because they were gay, it was because the buiness did not want to provide a service at an event that was something they did not want to support.

And you are absolutely correct, there is always consequences for our decisions. Some feel that there are worse consequences than losing buisness by not standing for what they believe.

Thank you for being respectful while discussing this sensitive subject. As always there are many who disagree. I am just grateful to be able share my beliefs, as I am grateful that you are all able to do the same.

    They were targeted.
Had the "couple" just ordered 50 pizzas carryout there wouldn't be this whole debacle. But as I see it they are a private small business with religious beliefs and reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
    End of story.
This nation is on a downturn of fascist turmoil. There's more hatred and racism with tbe potus than ever before.
    Peace out.

In order to understand discrimination you must first be discriminated against, it is demeaning it is anti-Christian and it is hateful. It does not matter if you are a gay/lesbian, black, Arab, First American or any other minority we as Americans should try and get past this it’s been going on since the first Anglos set foot on this land 500 years ago it’s time to end it by whatever means it takes laws, education, or the Church to step up to the plate and not force it backwards.
